The University of Tulsa Department of Anthropology & Sociology is hoping to raise money to support students and community engagement projects. Money will be used to support student awards, service learning projects like Tar Creek and refugee resettlement through Every Campus a Refuge, student conference presentations, excavation opportunities, and more!

On April 16, TJ Edwards will be defending his MA thesis entitled "Urbanization of the Bronze and Iron Age Levant: Micromammals as a Proxy"

On April 18, Ahmad Thaher will defend his MA thesis entitled "Living as Neighbors: A Techno-Typological Lithic Analysis of Nizzanan Learning Communities at Kharaneh IV and Wadi Jilat 6"

On April 17, Geordan Taylor will defend his MA thesis entitled "A 2D Geometric Morphometric Analysis of Modern and Paleolithic Microtus guentheri Populations: A New Paleoenvironmental Proxy for the Levant"

On April 15, Jess Castano will be defending her MA entitled "Late Pleistocene Primates from South China - A Case Study from Yahuai Cave, Guangxi"

The week of April 14th we have 5 MA thesis defenses in Anthropology!! The first will be the Anastasia Matveeva's defense entitled "Personal Ornamentation at Kharaneh IV: An Aesthetic Analysis of the Shell Bead Assemblage"

Join the Department on Monday, July 15th, at 2pm, for Emily Schumacher's PhD Defense! The defense will be hybrid, with the in-person component taking place in the Harwell Hall Upstairs Seminar room. If you would like to attend on Zoom, please contact Emily directly for the link.
