WEIRD. 👀🚨

i think we need to teach kids this word more.
because kids understand the energy of WEIRD wayyyyy before they understand words like inappropriate, grooming, or predator.

“he was being weird.”

“she told me not to tell you. it felt weird.”

“i don’t know why… i just don’t want to go over there anymore.”

“something about them makes me feel weird.”
LISTEN. 👂🏼

your child does not need enough evidence to prove someone is unsafe before they’re allowed to listen to their body.

they don’t need to correctly identify a predator.

they don’t need to understand someone’s intentions.

they don’t even need to be able to explain WHY.

weird is enough information to come tell me. 🚨

because the reality is…

unsafe people exist everywhere.

they can be strangers.
they can be teachers.
coaches.
family members.
friends.
other children.
people everybody LOVES.
people everybody trusts.
people with wonderful reputations.

and as much as i would LOVE to personally bubble wrap my children and inspect every single human who ever enters their orbit 😭🫧

i can’t.

so one of the most important things i can do is teach them what to do when something gets WEIRD.

🚪 you can leave.
🗣️ you can say NO.
🙅🏻‍♀️ you do not have to be polite.
📱 you can call me.
🤫 you can tell me even if somebody told you not to.
🫂 you can tell me even if you participated.
❤️‍🩹 you can tell me even if you’re afraid you’re going to get in trouble.
🚨 you can tell me even if you don’t have the words to explain exactly what happened.

“it felt weird” is enough to start the conversation.

BUT HERE’S THE OTHER HALF. 👀

we can teach children to listen to themselves all day long…

but when they finally come tell us something?
WE HAVE TO LISTEN.

because every time a child says someone made them uncomfortable and we respond with—

“oh, he’s just playing.”
“she would never do that.”
“you misunderstood.”
“but that’s your uncle.”
“they’re such a nice person.”
“are you sure?”

we may accidentally teach them something horrifying:
your internal alarm is less trustworthy than an adult’s reputation.

OOOOOOOOF. 😮‍💨💔

NO.

i want my children to learn the exact opposite.
🧠 your body talks to you.
👂🏼 you are allowed to listen.
🚪 you are allowed to leave.
🗣️ you are allowed to tell me.
🫂 and you do not have to convince me that your discomfort is valid before i take you seriously.

and grown-ups…

we have to become somewhere safe for the information to go. 🫂🏡

because an experience itself can absolutely be traumatic.
AND what happens afterward matters too.

being believed matters.
being protected matters.
having somewhere safe to bring the fear, confusion, shame, anger, questions and WEIRD matters.

so if we want our children to bring us the BIG weird things someday…

we have to practice listening when they bring us the little weird things today.

trust their instinct.
teach the tools.
be the safe space. 🫂🌈

welcome to WEIRD. 👀🚨

because apparently we’re making this a whole series now. 😂

what if your child isn’t struggling with the space…

what if the space is struggling to support your child? 👀

we spend SO much time figuring out how to help kids adapt.

sit here.
focus here.
sleep now.
calm down.
stop moving.
keep your things here.
do your schoolwork here.

and sometimes… we’ve completely skipped over the environment we’re asking them to do all of that IN. 🏡

that’s something i’ve become fascinated by.

because kids are different.

some need movement to think. 🤸🏻‍♀️
some need less visual stimulation.
some need their favorite things where they can SEE them.
some need cozy little spaces to disappear into.
some need freedom.
some need predictability.
some need more access.
some need less STUFF. 😅

and there is no Pinterest-perfect children’s space that is going to work for every little human.

soooooo… we’re doing something about it. 👀🌈

introducing:

DESIGNED TO BE. 🏡⚡️

through Conscious Littles Co., i get to know the child FIRST.

i look at their interests, sensory preferences, routines, challenges, natural rhythms, the way they learn + play, what their family notices about them, and yes — Human Design is one of the tools i LOVE using to give us another lens into how that little human experiences their world.

THEN we look at the space.

not:

“how do we make this kid function better in here?”

but:

“how could this space better support THIS kid?”

and we redesign it accordingly. ✨

because the goal isn’t to create a prettier room.

it’s to create an environment where a child has more freedom to learn, play, regulate, rest, explore and just…

BE. 🥹🌈

hence the name.

DESIGNED TO BE.

and i am SO freaking excited about this one. 🤸🏻‍♀️⚡️

23/08/2026

today i handed marcellus a piece of paper with five words on it:

prowler.
carry.
field.
mission.
objective.

that’s it. 😂

i told him i was working on a secret project and those were his clues.

later, i let him see ONE tiny piece of what i’ve been creating in Canva.

me: “we’re going to enter the Spider-Verse.”

M: “you know Prowler isn’t Spider-Man, ya know?”

me: 😂😂😂… yes sir.

and then he stood up, threw both hands in the air and yelled:

“YAYYYYYYY!!!”

and THIS is what interest-led learning looks like in our house. 🕷️🕸️

marcellus LOVES Prowler.

he knows this universe. he’s interested in the characters, the story, the technology, the gear.

me?

i don’t know s**t about Prowler. 😂

but i LOVE creating experiences.

give me Canva, a color palette, a ridiculous idea, access to a 3D printer, sewing machine, wood engraver, my Silhouette and two months to make some s**t?!

BABYYYYYY. 😂🔥

so that’s exactly what we’re doing.

we’re co-creating an entire experience around something he already loves.

he brings his knowledge.

his questions.

his ideas.

his imagination.

his interests.

i bring mine.

design.

storytelling.

research.

creating.

making ordinary s**t feel magical. ✨

and somewhere in the middle of OUR gifts…

learning happens.

not because i sat down and asked:

“how can i teach him math through Spider-Man?”

but because we’re going to need to measure s**t.

we’re going to need to budget.

read.

research.

spell.

write.

design.

build.

experiment.

use technology.

solve problems.

make mistakes.

try again.

and probably go down 72 rabbit holes neither of us even knows exist yet. 😂

THIS is my interest-led learning framework in its simplest form:

🕸️ notice the interest.

👀 get curious about it WITH them.

🧰 make tools, materials, people, places + experiences available.

🔥 let their curiosity lead.

🤝 bring your own gifts to the experience, too.

🌱 notice the learning that’s already happening.

🕷️ follow the next thread.

that’s it.

the adult doesn’t have to disappear from child-led learning.

and the adult doesn’t have to control it either.

we get to collaborate.

i don’t need to pretend to be interested in exactly everything he’s interested in.

i get to bring ME to the table.

and he gets to bring HIM.

that’s where this gets really beautiful.

because he’s getting to spend the next two months diving deeper into something he loves…

and i’m getting to spend the next two months doing something i love too.

creating.

designing.

making.

telling stories.

building an entire WORLD around an idea. 😂😭

and along the way, he’s going to learn.

i’m going to learn.

we’re going to learn from each other.

all because a 9-year-old wanted to be Prowler for Halloween. 🥹🕷️💜

sometimes education begins with a lesson plan.

and sometimes…

it begins with five words on a piece of paper and a kid throwing his hands in the air yelling “YAYYYYYY!”

i know which one i want more of. 🖤🤸🏻‍♀️⚡️

hi friends! i’m stephanie. 🤸🏻‍♂️🫶🏻

i’m the creator of conscious littles co. — we are a playful, child-centered community here in tulsa built on a simple belief:

children are whole humans.

CLC exists to help families experience more play, more connection, more curiosity, and more community.

we’re creating things like:

🤸🏻‍♂️ PLAYdates where families can connect and kids can truly be kids

🌈 “rewriting the rules” — our grown-up PLAYdates that invite us to rethink childhood, play, and the way we show up for the little humans in our lives

🧠 family flow sessions for parents wanting more connection and less power struggles at home

and one of my favorite projects…

my 9 year old, marcellus, is our very first official CLC field tester. 😂🌈 we’re exploring tulsa together through a child’s eyes to build the CLC Village Guide — a guide to the people and places creating a world where children truly belong.

my hope is simple:

that every family who finds CLC feels like they’ve found their village. 💕

if that makes your heart do a little happy dance, i’d love to connect!

📍 tulsa, ok

‼️ BEFORE YOU GO:
what’s a game you played as a kid that today’s kids NEED to experience?

i’m always looking for ideas. 🌈

i’ll go first in the comments. 👇🏻👀

31/07/2026

let’s PLAY, tulsa! 😈🌈 currently accepting co-conspirators to help me dismantle the education system…

with bubbles, snacks, magnatiles, and community. 🤸🏻‍♂️🫱🏼‍🫲🏽🥰

hi, we’re conscious littles co. ✨ welcome to the fam! we’re just getting started. 🥳💕✨

who’s in?! say hello in the comments or send me a DM! ⬇️👋🏼

29/07/2026

some kiddos are naturally curious.

they have to know why.

they have to touch it.

they have to take it apart.

they have to try it for themselves.

(and honestly… don’t we all? 🤸🏻‍♂️)

lil M was the kid who was gonna find the knife whether i told him “no” or not. 😂

so instead of spending my energy trying to stop his curiosity…

i chose to teach him how to use it safely.

yesterday he chopped cucumbers for our family meal prep. 🥒

he helped make yogurt bowls.

he was proud of himself.

and that’s the part that matters.

i don’t force participation.

i invite it.

because confidence isn’t something we hand to our kids one day…

it’s something they build every time we trust them with real life.

this is one of the biggest reasons we’ve chosen a different educational path.

life skills.

meal planning.

budgeting.

grocery shopping.

cooking.

problem solving.

making mistakes.

trying again.

that’s education too.

what if we stopped asking,
“are they old enough?”

and started asking,
“how can i safely invite them to participate?”

you might be surprised by what they’re capable of. 🤸🏻‍♂️🌈✨

🌈 come PLAY with us, tulsa. 🤸🏻‍♂️✨

i keep thinking about how hard it can be to find your people.

how hard it can be to find spaces where your child can just… exist.

not perform.
not fit in.
not be “fixed.”

just be a kid.

so we’re starting simple.

marcellus and i are going to the park to play. 🫧🤸🏻‍♂️🌈

we’re bringing bubbles, chalk, snacks, and our favorite childhood game:

TAG. 😂🏃🏻‍♂️

because sometimes making friends really can be as simple as:

“wanna play?”

this isn’t a class.
this isn’t a structured activity.
this isn’t a place where anyone has to show up perfectly.

it’s a permission slip to come as you are.

🌈 have a little who’s not old enough for tag yet? come anyway.

🌈 have a big kid who still loves to play? bring them.

🌈 you’re a mom, dad, grandparent, auntie, uncle, caregiver, or just someone who believes kids and families deserve more connection?

🌈 reminiscing on the days of actually being a kid and wishing your grown up self had a safe space to PLAY?!

you belong here.

because villages were never meant to be built by one type of person.

they’re built by all of us. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽🏡

this is the very beginning of Conscious Littles Co.

come PLAY with us. 🤸🏻‍♂️✨🌈

details coming soon.

can’t wait?! leave a comment with your favorite childhood game or DM it to us and we’ll send the details now! 😏😎👀

27/07/2026

you’re not crazy.

you’re just tired as s**t. 🫶🏻😭

you’ve bought the sensory swing.

the weighted blanket.

the visual schedule.

the noise-canceling headphones.

the chew necklaces.

the fidget toys.

half of amazon, honestly. 😅

you’ve read the books.

listened to the podcasts.

followed the parenting accounts.

tried the sticker chart…

…for approximately 17 minutes. 🤪

you’ve googled:

“why won’t my child sleep?”

“is this autism?”

“is this sensory?”

“is mercury in retrograde?”

“am i the problem?” 😂

and somewhere along the way…

you stopped trusting the one person who knows your child better than anyone else.

YOU.

i know.

because i’ve lived it.

i’ve parented an autistic kiddo for years as a single mom.

i’ve survived the sleep deprivation.

the sensory meltdowns.

the speech delays.

the appointments.

the second-guessing.

the “have you tried…” comments that make you want to lovingly launch yourself into the sun. 😘☀️

and here’s the wild part…

the biggest shift in our family didn’t happen because i found the perfect strategy.

it happened when i finally said…

“respectfully… i’m his mom.”

and i started trusting my child more than i trusted everyone else’s opinion about him.

that changed EVERYTHING.

because children aren’t puzzles to solve.

they’re humans to understand.

that’s why i created conscious littles co.

because i refuse to believe parenting is supposed to feel this lonely.

i refuse to believe community should be a luxury.

and i refuse to believe parents should have to choose between trusting themselves and following the system.

if you’ve been quietly thinking…

“there has to be another way…”

come here. 🌈🤸🏻‍♂️

i think you’ll like what we’re building.

14/06/2026

does anyone else ever feel like motherhood wasn’t supposed to be this lonely? 😫😫😫

like somewhere along the way, we lost the village.

because i don’t think mothers were ever meant to do all of this alone.

cook every meal.
plan every meal.
grocery shop.
clean the house.
schedule the appointments.
remember the birthdays.
manage the emotions.
build the memories.
be present with our children.
work.
heal.
grow.
and somehow still have energy left over for ourselves.

i don’t think we were meant to carry the load of an entire village on our own.

before my mom died, she cooked dinner often, took my kids on adventures, and cleaned a lot. her support allowed me to pour into my children, my dreams, and myself.

when she died, that support disappeared.

and while i’ve built a beautiful life in many ways, if i’m honest, i’ve been carrying the weight of an entire village ever since.

i know i can’t be the only mama feeling this.

i don’t need luxury.

i need community. 😭

i need people who believe in trading gifts, sharing burdens, and helping one another thrive.

a mama who loves to cook extra food.
someone who enjoys cleaning more than i do (because mopping is my arch nemesis 😂).
someone who can run errands or pick up groceries.
families who want to build genuine friendships and community.

because my son deserves friendships.
and i think we all deserve villages.

so this is me asking.

if you’re local and have been craving community too—whether through trades, shared meals, playdates, skill-sharing, or simply showing up for one another—let’s connect. 💕

what if we stopped trying to do life alone?

what if we built the village ourselves? 🌈✨
