Dyslexia is more than letter reversals—it’s a learning difference that deserves empathy & effective instruction.

One of the most common misconceptions about dyslexia is that it's simply about reversing letters.

While some children may occasionally reverse letters, dyslexia is actually a difference in how the brain processes language.

With the right instruction and support, children with dyslexia can become successful readers and confident learners.

What's one thing you wish more people understood about dyslexia?

The best time to help a struggling reader isn't after they fall further behind.
It's before the next school year begins.

For many children who struggle with reading, summer offers something the school year often can't:

- More time
- Less pressure
- Fewer distractions
- Space to build skills and confidence

Instead of spending the summer worrying about next year, consider using this time to help your child strengthen the foundational reading skills they'll need when school starts again.

Small, consistent progress over the summer can make a meaningful difference in how a child feels when they walk into the classroom this fall.

The goal isn't perfection.

The goal is confidence.

Because every child deserves to start the school year believing, "I can do this."

t's Saturday, so let's keep it simple. ☀

What's one thing your child is curious about right now?

Dinosaurs?
Space?
Ocean animals?
Baking?
Sports?
Art?

Curiosity is where learning begins—and sometimes the best learning happens when we follow what interests a child.

Be honest 👀

Would you rather:
📖 Read the book first
or
🎬 Watch the movie first?

No wrong answers here…although we might judge you a little if you skip the book entirely (just kidding)!

And for some people, audiobooks count too 🎧❤

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend.

It's a time to remember and honor those who gave everything in service to our country.

🇺🇸 We remember. We are grateful.

Dyslexia affects 1 in 5 people.

That's not rare. That's someone in our schools, workplaces, families, and communities.

The more we understand, the better we can support those who learn differently.

Sometimes the first (or biggest) breakthrough isn’t academic.

It’s emotional.

A child who feels safe enough to try again…
safe enough to make mistakes…
safe enough admit they don't have the answer…

Even as adults, when we're in fight or flight mode, we want to give up...but when we feel safe, we can keep going.

It's the same way with our children...that matters more than almost anything - feeling safe and wanting to keep trying.

We heard something on a podcast recently:

“The easiest life hack? Read.”

And for some people, it's that simple. But we know it's not always that simple.

If you have a child who struggles with reading, you know it, too.

Reading isn’t easy for everyone.
And “just read more” isn’t always helpful advice.

But here’s what is possible:

- Audiobooks
- Informational podcasts
- Content in formats that meet them where they are

Because learning, growing, and understanding the world doesn’t only happen one way.

If someone in your life is struggling with reading, there are answers—and support that can make a real difference.

Time
Time to figure it out.
Time to make mistakes.
Time to try again without feeling rushed or behind.Patience.

Time to figure it out.
Time to make mistakes.
Time to try again without feeling rushed or behind.

Because learning to read isn’t the same for every child.

Some pick it up quickly.
Others need more support, more repetition, and a different approach.

And that’s okay.

Every child also deserves:
- Instruction that's adjustable and meets them where they are
- Encouragement because it feels hard
- The chance to believe, “I can do this”

When we give kids what they NEED—not just what’s expected—everything starts to change.

What is dyslexia—really?

Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty that primarily affects reading and writing.
But it doesn’t stop there.

It can also impact:
• Spelling
• Processing sounds in words
• Written expression
• Reading speed & fluency

And here’s what’s important to know:

Dyslexia has nothing to do with intelligence.
With the right support, individuals with dyslexia can learn to read, grow in confidence, and thrive.
