This year we combined legos with a composer factoid game called “probably true or funny but false” from VMT library!! Safe to say, we shared some great laughs! 🤣 Swipe to the end to see for yourself!

••• Wait, what does this have to do with piano?! Well, let me tell ya!! Young beginners are developing strong finger muscles, learning to associate quantity with numbers, and learning to follow multiple step directions. It’s crucial for these teeny piano hands and minds have space to play, pretend, AND progress!

"The goal is not perfection, but progress." 💜🎹🎶

I believe one of the most healthy ways to grow as a musician is to seek out the critique and encouragement of those who are already doing what you are learning to do. 23 of my piano and vocal students are preparing to do just that later this Spring for our first ever OFMC (Oklahoma Federation of Music Clubs) Festival Competition! Each student will prepare and memorize 2 pieces to perform in front of an adjudicator. Their performance is not ranked 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc but rather receives individual feedback and a solo rating. Students who compete annually earn points with each rating and will eventually earn trophies, awards, and shimmering college resumes to boot!

I'd like to award scholarships to a few of my families (especially those with multiple siblings participating or individuals who have expressed financial need). Each registration is $20 and I am hoping to award 5 scholarships this year, totaling $100.

Today was so special! After two and half years of online lessons (we are a couple states apart), we met in person for the first time! Emma and I are both huggers, so safe to say my warm-feels meter is off the charts now!

I love this life and career seeing students excel, grow, and create music!!

I’m certain this little one IS going to do big this year!! Meet my first preschool student, Luna! She is 4 years old, loves the color pink, has the best style, and her favorite Piano Character (WunderKeys!) is Thumbelina!
