InnovatED consulting is dedicated to educating teachers and administrators in highly effective, research-based methods of behavior management.
Some of our techniques include teaching students what the expected behaviors are, before expecting the students to know how to behave and were developed by Dr. Madeline Hunter and coach John Wooden 40 years ago. They have been encompassed by the Time to Teach organization along with four other important components that have been proven time and again to transform some of the worst performing schoo
ls into some of the best performing schools. Time to Teach has 5 Major Beliefs. One of our main beliefs is that Caring is Key. If kids do not know how much you care, then they don't care how much you know. Time to Teach shows educators scores of ways to connect in meaningful ways with their students. Another main belief is that conflict is essential. As a teacher, you know that students are good at finding out what annoys you. Time to Teach shows educators how to regain control by developing self-control through the use of diffusers, and the Classroom Integrity Questions a teacher should ask themselves before stopping a lesson over a behavior. We believe that behavior must be taught, and that behavior can be changed. We do not believe that punishment alone for negative behavior will cause prolonged change in behavior; we have see the positive effect of taking preventative measures in teaching behaviors and agree with John Wooden's motto of, "Taking care of the little things, so they don't turn into big things." Last, we understand that Good Discipline is a matter of Good Timing, and we show teachers how to effectively use the student's time to deal with behavior, rather than the time meant for teaching and learning.
