Building Partnerships. Creating Opportunities. Building Futures!

Little Rock Job Corps Center was excited to welcome Associated Builders and Contractors of Arkansas (ABC Arkansas) to the campus for a center tour and to discuss renewing the partnership.

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase our students’ hands-on career training and discuss ways we can work together to expand apprenticeship opportunities, industry connections, and career pathways for our students.

We appreciate ABC Arkansas for taking the time to visit and explore opportunities to invest in the next generation of skilled professionals.

Last month, our CMA students at the North Texas Job Corps spent the last few days gaining hands-on clinical experience at the Plano Red Cross Blood and Platelet Donation Center. Opportunities like these help our students build confidence, strengthen their skills, and learn directly from healthcare professionals in a real clinical setting.

Thank you to our partners at the American Red Cross for investing in the next generation of healthcare workers. We appreciate the opportunity to help prepare our students for successful careers.

She's not just building structures — she's building a legacy!

Meet Victoria — a determined, visionary young woman from Genesee County whose journey through the Jobs for Michigan's Graduates (JMG) Program and Flint Genesee Job Corps is nothing short of extraordinary. Her dream? To become an architect. And she's already well on her way.

Victoria started with a paid work experience as an Office Administrative Assistant in March 2024, sharpening her organizational skills and professional instincts. After completing that role, she enrolled in the Carpentry trade at Job Corps — hands-on, real-world training that brings her closer to her architectural future with every skill she masters.

Her leadership has been just as impressive. At Leadership Day and Legislative Day, Victoria stepped up with quiet confidence — offering ideas, lifting her peers, and proving that powerful leadership doesn't have to be loud. Her JMG Specialist, Dominque, has been a steady source of encouragement, helping her trust the strength she already had within.

As of May 2025, Victoria is working as a 1st-Year Carpenter Apprentice at Turner Brooks — full-time, full benefits, competitive wage — and she's just getting started. 🙌

Big thanks to Ben Henry from Pipefitters Local 636 for stopping by Detroit Job Corps today! He sat down with our HVAC students to talk shop — real talk about life in the local, the road from apprentice to journeyman, and what it takes to build a career that lasts.

Moments like these are why we do what we do. Industry pros investing time in the next generation of skilled tradespeople? That's the Job Corps difference.

Our students weren't just listening — they were recruiting-ready and asking the right questions about their future in the pipe trades.

From a calling to a career — Officer Nataliee Richards is serving and protecting!

From a young age, Nataliee Richards knew she was meant to serve. Driven by integrity, discipline, and a passion for community safety, she turned that purpose into a plan — and Flint Genesee Job Corps helped her execute it. 💙

After earning her high school diploma, Nataliee enrolled in Job Corps and completed the Homeland Security trade. She pushed herself through paid work experiences, built real confidence and professionalism, and leaned on supportive resources — including the WIOA Youth and Jobs for Michigan's Graduates programs — to stay focused and keep moving forward.

In March 2024, she completed her Homeland Security Career Training. By June 2024, she had earned a certificate from the Kiwanis Law Enforcement Career Academy. She then completed training with the Michigan Department of Corrections — and in July 2025, Nataliee officially stepped into her role as a Corrections Officer at the Richard Handlon Correctional Facility, working full-time at a competitive wage. 🚔

This is Job Corps in action. We meet students where they are, equip them with real skills, and surround them with the support they need to reach their goals. Nataliee's journey proves that with the right foundation, there's no limit to how far determination can take you.

Over the past few months, we've been intentional about investing in our students beyond the classroom and the trade floor.

In May, we hosted a BECOMING HER Tea Party for the young ladies of North Texas Job Corps. The day included breakout sessions on healthy boundaries, life after Job Corps , relationships, and navigating adulthood as young women. We also enjoyed an etiquette lesson during our tea service, which was one of the highlights of the event. It was a day filled with meaningful conversations, encouragement and genuine sisterhood.

In June, we brought together our young men for our Kings in the Making event. The day featured grooming sessions, breakout workshops, and honest conversations about leadership, responsibility and what it means to show up as a man. Students learned how to tie a tie, received professional haircuts and participated in experiences that will stay with them long after the event.

At North Texas Job Corps, we believe in developing the whole person. Yes, we're preparing students for careers, but we're also preparing them for life by teaching the soft skills, confidence, professionalism and mindset that no trade certification alone can provide.

Our students deserve more than technical training. They deserve mentors who see their potential, invest in their growth and help them build a strong foundation for success beyond our campus.

That's the work. That's the mission.

🩺 Our students aren't just training for careers — they're training to save lives!

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Renee Dudley from Youth Connection for coming on-center to provide a powerful Narcan Training to our CNA and CMA students at Detroit Job Corps! 👏💙

Narcan (naloxone) is a life-saving medication that can reverse an opioid overdose — and knowing how and when to use it is an essential skill for anyone entering the healthcare field. Dr. Dudley equipped our future Certified Nursing Assistants and Medical Assistants with knowledge that goes far beyond the classroom and directly into the communities they will serve. 🏥❤️

This is Job Corps at its finest. We don't just prepare students with certifications and credentials — we prepare them to show up for people in their most vulnerable moments. Training like this shapes compassionate, capable healthcare professionals who are ready to make a real difference from day one.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Cerei "Isaiah" Dortch 🇺🇸

Big moment at the Flint Hills Job Corps this week — one of our own Eagles, Cerei "Isaiah" Dortch, was officially sworn into the US Army! 🎖️

Staff and fellow students showed up and stood behind him as he took his oath — because that's what we do here. We show up for each other.

Isaiah's journey is a powerful reminder of what Job Corps is all about: giving young people the training, support, and community they need to turn their next chapter into something extraordinary. Today, it was a uniform. Tomorrow, who knows — but we know it'll be great.

Congratulations, Isaiah! Thank you for your service, and thank you for representing the Flint Hills Job Corps so well.
