Three months after the shoulder operation, it’s delightful to be back kite-surfing, playing tennis and cycling. With a category five tear through my ligaments, I never expected to recover so quickly. I’d like to thank Dr. Andrew Sankey for doing such a fantastic job with the surgery.

It makes me so happy to be able to join in on the pickleball and tennis tournaments again, and to be back training for our Strive Challenges. My serve is shaping up nicely too!

Fitness really is the cornerstone of my life. Everything flows from it. I did my physiotherapy religiously, and it’s somewhat miraculous to see what a combination of brilliant surgery and dedicated rehabilitation can do.

Everyone tells you that you need to track your goals.

I think there is a little more to it than that.

Having your goals written down and read every day is important. You have to remember "why" are you taking the time and money to take action. A goal is your destination.

However, if you don't track your daily activities towards your goals, it feels like they are so far away.

Make sure to track the steps and how many more steps remain towards your goals. You'll be surprised how quickly you reach the finish line.

If you don’t have a business plan, that's okay.

NO REALLY... don’t worry!

I’ve worked with many small business owners, and I see the same challenges pop up when it comes to writing those lengthy 30+ page documents. It can feel overwhelming! Like you’re trying to tackle the whole future of your business in one go.

But here's the good news: you don’t have to!

What I want to see is something simpler, like a business model canvas or a simple up to eight-page document that clearly outlines a few key things:

1. What is your marketplace?
2. What products and services are you offering to that marketplace?
3. What are your financial projections for the next three years?

Focusing on these three questions can make the process so much more manageable!

Once your business starts to grow and you hit that magical $1 million mark in annual revenue, that’s when things get exciting and a bit more complex. You’ll need to think about business operations, processes, and leadership teams. But until then, keep your energy focused on marketing, sales, and fulfilling your customer’s needs.

Remember, your business plan can evolve as your company grows and reaches new milestones.
