This will be a special 2-day event!

Day 1 – Friday, September 4th, 2026
Location: Itom Mahtawa'apo Building 5100 W. Calle Tetakusim, Tucson, AZ 85757
Time 5:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Meet the 2026–2027 candidates and watch as they take on the Tahkaim (tortilla) making and traditional dish portion.

Day 2 – Saturday, September 5th, 2026
Location: Casino of the Sun – Sunset Room 7406 S. Camino De Oeste, Tucson, AZ 85746
Time: 2:00PM – 10:00PM
Experience both modern and traditional talents, a heartfelt farewell, and the crowning presentation.

Wow! A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out and joined us for our Tahkaim workshops!

As we wrap up these 3 days of workshops, we want to send an incredibly special thank you to Ms. Bule-Alvarez for sharing her knowledge, teaching us every step of the process, and showing us how to make delicious Tahkaim. Your time, patience, and willingness to share your knowledge mean so much to us!

We also want to give a HUGE thank you to all our past and present Royalty, and Tribal Council members who have joined us along the way. We hope that, from the littlest of hands to the eldest, we can continue sharing this knowledge, creating memories, and keeping these traditions alive.

We are looking forward to future events and hope to see you all again soon!

We would like to give a big thank you to Old Pascua Community, and to Ms. Bule-Alvarez for the instruction during our 2nd Tahkaim Workshop! Also, a huge shout out and thank you to the Miss Pascua Yaqui Royalty past and present and the PYT Council members Chairman Hernandez, Ms. Alvarez- Gomez, Ms. Frias and Ms. Gonzalez for the support and taking the time out of there busy schedule to spend time with us.

We are grateful for the time, knowledge, and traditions shared with our community!

Lios enchim anianvu, Ketchem Allea!

We would like to give a big thank you to Ms. Bule-Alvarez for sharing her knowledge and instruction during our Tahkaim Workshop! Also the support of PYT Tribal Council oversight Ms. Alvarez-Gomez.

The workshop took us step-by-step through the traditional process of making Tahkaim, including:
• Preparing the comal (griddle)
• Preparing the dough
• Hand-stretching the dough
• Cooking the Tahkaim

It was a wonderful opportunity to learn, share, and keep these traditions alive within our community. We appreciate everyone who participated and made the workshop special!
