Hayden Panettiere defends giving up custody of her daughter despite intense emotional pain 07/21/2026

Sometimes the bravest acts of motherhood are the ones no one applauds.

As a society, we're often quick to judge mothers based on what we see from the outside. But the truth is, we rarely know the full story.

This story is a powerful reminder that love doesn't always look the way we expect it to. Sometimes loving your child means making an impossible decision so they can have stability while you fight to heal.

Postpartum depression, anxiety, addiction, and other perinatal mental health challenges are real. They don't make someone a bad mother. They make someone a human being who deserves compassion, treatment, and support.

May we be slower to judge and quicker to ask, "How can I help?"

If you're struggling, please know that you are not alone, and there is hope.

❤️ Sharing this story because every parent deserves empathy, and every family deserves support.

Dads can struggle quietly, too.

The pressure to provide.
The fear of not doing enough.
The exhaustion nobody sees.
The guilt that can come with needing support.

Perinatal mental health does not only affect moms. Dads and partners can experience anxiety, depression, overwhelm, irritability, disconnection, and burnout during pregnancy and postpartum, even when everything looks “fine” from the outside.

Check in on the dads, partners, and support people in your life. Ask how they’re really doing. Remind them they do not have to carry it alone.

Support is not weakness. It is part of showing up.

If you or someone you love is struggling during pregnancy or postpartum, WHI is here to help.
