Today’s class is Basic Bezel Setting Cabochon Ring, where you’ll learn the foundations of bezel setting while creating your own cabochon ring.

You’ll work through forming and soldering the bezel, preparing your ring, and setting your stone into the finished piece.

On the bench today: Basic Earrings.

Students will learn how headpins, beads, and earwires come together to create a finished pair of handmade earrings.

On the bench today, we’re creating Copper Tube Hinge Pendants.

Students will learn a “down and dirty” version of making tube hinges while practicing soldering, sawing, and cold connections in one kinetic pendant project.

On the bench today, we’re creating kinetic pendants with pinned hinges.

Students will learn how to use the pinning technique to build a moving hinge element and add motion to a handmade pendant.

Should you solder that accent onto your jewelry piece, or cold connect it? 🤔

A lot of the decision comes down to one question: Can you still get the stone into the bezel afterward?

If an accent blocks the stone from being set, it needs to be added after the stone is in place, which usually means using a cold connection instead of soldering.

It’s a small design decision that can make a big difference in how smoothly your project comes together.
