GHSA cracks down on transfers.
GHSA to Crackdown on Transfers
We knew this would happen at some point, and now it’s coming:
The GHSA will require the schools of any student athlete that wants to transfer to do the following:
• Produce Copies of drivers license, lease agreements, and utility bills proving the family’s move from the previous address to the new address. This is to ensure a “Bona Fide” move that we have always heard about.
Families will have to prove that utilities at a former address have been disconnected, and any rental/leasing agreement have been terminated to ensure a proper change of address.
There’s More:
• If a student athlete moves from one parents residence to another parents residence in another district, both PARENTS MUST APPEAR ON THE STUDENTS BIRTH CERTIFICATE.
If not, the transferring student will be ineligible.
Also,
• Any student athlete that transfers TWICE after the 9th grade will be ineligible for one year, thus will have to sit out for one year.
These bylaw changes are pending approval next month by the GHSA
ITG Next Georgia will continue to provide updates to this story
