What rewards do you use for yourself?

I’ve never been one to reward myself for work but I am now and I love it. My next reward is an Olive and June polish when I get the modules for my course scripted. And for a full month of weekly blogs I will reward myself with a cake cup from my favorite neighborhood bakery.

How do you reward your good work to keep moving forward and add some fun?

Give me 👊if you can relate.

This is my business mantra.

With perfectionism on my left shoulder and procrastination on my right I am always reminding myself that done is better than perfect.

Sometimes I make spelling mistakes.
Sometimes I misspeak and say things the wrong way.
Sometimes I can’t finish a thing till it’s just about due.

And when those things happen I tend to quit. I don’t finish.

So I repeat done is better than perfect and something is better than nothing.

I often talk about all the things that I do in my tutoring business.

✨3 tasks a day
✨share what you do with everyone
✨find your niche

Let's add this to the long long list of things I needed to learn when starting my own business.

Starting my days with MYSELF as the priority.

✨Not skipping breakfast
✨Remembering to take my meds
✨Grabbing a huge glass of water before I head to my desk. (along with my coffee)

How can you prioritize yourself too?

I (like many of you) started my own business because I was fed up with the school system.

I needed space and time to take care of myself AND not feel guilty for doing so.

I needed to silence the voices that constantly made me feel like I wasn't good enough, quick enough, caring enough, and just plain not enough.

I had to quit teaching so that I could learn how to make myself a priority without all the noise.

I am so incredibly grateful that I found tutoring. That I found a way to use my gift for teaching in a safe space.

And a job that allows me to prioritize myself.

I love to see children grow in their confidence in reading AND hear from their parents how their reading confidence spills into other parts of their lives.

Luck isn't always there.

I've been lucky in my business to grow from 0-15 students in 7 months.

But in truth. It wasn't luck. It was LOTS and LOTS of
hard work
consistency
and belief in myself that I could do this!
