💙 This cookbook is more than recipes — it’s personal.
This card was created by one of our tutors to celebrate her student, who contributed a recipe in English.
“I was so proud of my student.”
Moments like this reflect what our work is all about: building confidence, celebrating progress, and supporting adult learners every step of the way.
Projects like A Feast of Words from Around the World bring our community together in meaningful ways.

155 years of volunteer leadership.
Our 2026–2027 Board of Directors brings a combined 155 years of volunteer experience to South Bay Literacy Council.
Seven of our twelve board members have volunteered for more than 10 years, and every member has at least five years of service.
This depth of experience helps sustain our all-volunteer organization and supports adult learners in building reading, writing, and English skills.
SBLC is stronger because of the people who continue to give back, year after year.
