I’ve been one to advocate for a COLA since 2011. Took me a while to learn the Leglislature holds all the POWER (many many statutes about KPERS chapter 74-4901-google it).
My friend Ruthe Goff wrote this letter to the editor which was published and guess what -legislature has the power to give themselves a hefty “raise”!
There are just a few days left to vote for the KPERS Board of Trustees-April 30 the deadline . A vote for me will ensure the teacher voice will be heard by the Trustees whose main role is fiduciary.

Active school KPERS members -includes adm, certified and classified. Your Board of Trustees election information was emailed to your district contact person not you. The district person as the KPERS designee should have forwarded this to you. KPERS prefers you vote online but you can ask for paper ballot or PIN number to vote by phone. KPERS will send out another email next week.
If you don’t have an online account sign on as new and create that account.

At our Capitol last week -two retirees and two active teachers sharing the love of our career with others. Great to meet these two teachers from western Kansas!!!

Spent the weekend with my professional organization Kansas National Education Association. I was blown away by the passion our Kansas teachers have for their students. And their profession. The children in Kansas are in great hands!!
