For the last day of school, held their annual lock-in from 6PM–10:30PM — completely planned by junior high students! Boys brought drinks, girls brought snacks, officers organized activities, found chaperones, and everyone helped clean up.

Young people often get labeled as lazy or distracted, but this group proved otherwise. Funny enough, for students who couldn’t wait for school to end, they still chose to spend one more evening here 😅

Be sure to check the comments for videos! “Grab the Mic” was a hit!

Yes, this is the last post for the day 🤣🤣

Shoutout to Kiowa County K-State Extension agents Josey Albers and Madi Ary for coming in and doing a Car Maintenance 101 with our high school students. They educated students about changing a tire, how to check air pressure, all of the fluids, items they should keep in their car, how to use jump cables, and so much more.

They have been judges for our local small business competition, guest speakers, discussed parliamentary procedure, allowed a student to job shadow them, and so much more. Our local extension agents are rockstars, and we are beyond blessed to have them in our community!

We have had a lot of great Seniors come through our JAG program over the years at USD 422 - Kiowa County Mavericks. However, the Class of 2026 Seniors helped take our JAG program to the next level. Regan, Adele, and Sauni were part of the JAG program every year from junior high through high school. Haydynn and Samuel were 5 year members, while Rebecca was part of the JAG program every year in high school.

This is a diverse group with one going to a four year public university, one going to a private four year university, two are going to a tradeschool, one will be attending a college prep school, and one will be entering the workforce.

This group embodies Jobs for America's Graduates-Kansas mission statement, "Preparing Students for Successful Futures."

Congrats to the Beloit Jr./Sr. High School JAG-K graduates! One is waiting to have her party in August)! Words can not express how proud I am of these guys. This year, I can honestly say that THEY ARE READY!! Some are headed to post secondary, and some the workforce. Regardless of where their journey will begin, I know each of them will be successful. As I ventured to each of their parties, each and every one of them said “Thanks Mrs. Tice!” They are such kind, respectful young people. Gosh darn, this Teacher heart is pretty proud today 🧑‍🎓 🧡🖤!!

On Wednesday, JAG students from Hays Middle School showed off their completed PBL with a Patio Premiere.

The students had been working all of April to revitalize the Library Patio outside of the HMS library.

We were so fortunate to have family, friends, school staff, and community members stop by to see our students hard work!
