This semester, our Primary I and II students are learning about lines, not only because they are one of the seven elements of art, but because they are a gentle and exciting introduction to the fine arts.

At St Thomas Aquinas CHC, children are already learning to draw lines as they learn handwriting and mathematics, both of which are based on the art of drawing lines in every direction!

From simple line exercises to intricate patterns, our art classes encourage children to explore different techniques, materials, and styles of drawing lines.

Suitable for children of all ages, skill levels, and interests, art at St Thomas Aquinas CHC helps to develop problem-solving skills, spatial awareness, and artistic confidence through joy and the cultivation of the virtue.

Join us for FREE every Monday from 10:45 am - 11:40 am!

To register, please contact the CHC office at 567-218-3168 or by email at [email protected].

Monday Class Offerings
In Primary School, we have Bible History, Ancient Science, Language Arts (Spelling, Vocabulary, and Reading), Math, Recitation/Handwriting, and Art.

In Middle School, we have Bible History, Math, Earth Science, Ancient Literature, and Art (taught by our very own Michelle Paine). :slightly_smiling_face:

Wednesday Class Offerings
In Primary School, we have Bible Timeline and Geography, Ancient Science, Language Arts (Latin and English Grammar), Math, Recitation/Handwriting, and Sacred Music (Schola).

In Middle School, we have Bible Timeline and Geography, Logic, Latin, Math, Earth Science Lab, Grammar and Composition (IEW), and Sacred Music (Schola).

Primary Art Class
Last semester, we integrated Art into our Ancient World History class, we focused on projects which helped to further our understanding of the Greek and Roman cultures.

This semester, we are learning about the 7 Elements of Art, focusing on the different kinds of lines and their importance and prevalence in art. Note bene: on Feast days, we usually do a craft that associates with the Feast to help emphasize our Faith and its beauty.

Middle School Ancient Art Class
Michelle Arnold Paine has been a fantastic addition to our new homeschool program! She has a very gentle and encouraging way in which she teaches art and has wonderfully planned her classes and projects around our Ancient and Biblical History this year. Her syllabi are well thought out and include art from various ancient civilizations, as well as readings and discussions on beauty and art from ancient philosophers and Holy Mother Church. Ancient Art has been foundational in our children's formation in truth, beauty, and goodness!

Sacred Music
Dr. David Saunders is well-known throughout our Catholic Diocese as a now retired music director at several parishes and now assists playing the organ at St. Joseph's, when needed. Dr. Saunders comes with a beautiful perspective on music and its ability to draw the soul deeper into relationship with our Lord. We are very much looking forward the growth of our choir and its future generosity to our Catholic community in Toledo.

We hope you will join us in the next two weeks! But, we understand that you may not be available to visit during this time. If you would like to schedule a private visit or would like to come for a specific class, please feel free to contact me. We would love to share our homeschool program with you.

God bless!

PS We are in session until Wednesday of Holy Week and will have one final week during the week of April 13-15, 2026

Today is the feast day of our patron, St Thomas Aquinas. Much like our world today, St. Thomas Aquinas lived in a time of confusion and misunderstandings about God, His nature and interaction with humanity, and about knowledge itself and the meaning of life here and in eternity.

In today’s world, truth is often understood as something relative and wholly unrelated to education, often resulting in the latter being reduced simply to the memorization or comprehension of facts alone. But, St. Thomas reminds us that an authentic education will not only inform one’s intellect but will develop one’s whole person, including one’s heart, soul, and will, as well.

Now more than ever, America is in dire need of a liberal arts education rooted in the the teachings and example of St. Thomas Aquinas! While many educational institutions struggle to meet the academic and spiritual needs of our children, St. Thomas Aquinas Classical Academy & HEP stands out as a beacon of hope. It offers a model of education that Catholic families can rely on, providing a joyful, spiritual, and virtuous foundation to prepare their children not only for life in this world, but also for life in Eternity.

In the fall of 2026, St Thomas Aquinas Classical Academy & HEP will finally provide the faithful Catholic education and resources Catholic families in Toledo have long been desiring. From theology and philosophy to prayer, saints, and daily Ignatian examens, everything is offered so the pursuit of truth is available to all who desire to grow in holiness and virtue.

In honoring St. Thomas Aquinas, we honor the belief that Truth exists, that faith and reason belong together, and that education should be accessible to all.

In honor of St. Thomas Aquinas’ feast day, we invite you to support St. Thomas Aquinas Classical Academy’s mission with a gift offered in his name. As our education system struggles to meet the spiritual, intellectual, and emotional needs of our children and as our culture continues to confront grave spiritual challenges, our work in Catholic education is of vital importance!

To join us in this much needed mission in Toledo, please donate on our website at www.staclassical.org!
