Enjoying some play time in the snow ⛄️

Everyday the same squirrel taunts both Charlie and I… at least today she didn’t sit up there and laugh. 🤣

Enjoying the afternoon with my new friend Charlie. Charlie is just 2 years old and joined the family in February.

💚 To all the families that have reached out during crisis and all those who have suffered in silence, this would be a great event to meet the people of NAMI or the National Alliance on Mental Illness. I will be there 🐾

Why a Green Light?

The color green has a long history of association with mental illness. Today, green represents hope and the de-stigmatization of mental illness.

Why does mental illness awareness matter?

The symptoms of mental illness can be hard to recognize. Because mental illness often remains “unseen”, there can be long delays in diagnosis and treatment. It can also lead to the marginalization of those with mental illness by society. Mental illnesses do not discriminate based on race, color, gender or identity. Anyone can experience the challenges of mental illness regardless of their background. By raising awareness, it can help increase the chances for early intervention for anyone with a mental illness, which can result in a deeper understanding and recovery.

What can you do?

Awareness is a form of education so - ask questions! Continue to educate yourself! This Mental Illness Awareness Week, light up your home or business with a green light begging the question, “why?” Showing your support can help to create a safe space for those with a mental health condition to feel safe, understood, and not alone.
