As homeschoolers, we are made to feel as though we are mutants! The truth is, this experiment is only a drop in the bucket in the history of mankind.

An important point to remember....
Homeschooling doesn’t insulate your child from the world. It won’t make your kids nicer, or more responsible, or smarter. It won’t make them better Christians, or Christians at all.
But what homeschooling gives you is TIME to parent. With your children under your influence (instead of the state and their peers) time is a blessing.
Time for manners. Time for responsibility training. Time to talk. Time for deep Bible study. Time for quality academics.
Time with you.
You have been given a very short window of time to raise your sons and daughters to adulthood. But that window of time can be stretched when they are home with you.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)
Make the most of childhood by being there. Be the primary influence on your children. Talk to them, disciple them, and be a wall between them and the world.
Homeschooling is more about HOME than SCHOOL.

Christian parents, this was an argument I heard often from other Christian parents: send your kids to school to be salt & light.
But as this blogger says: "The Bible does not give the evangelism of the world to children. There are only a couple of specific addresses to children in scripture: to honor and obey parents. Further, it is to parents that the training of children in character and spiritual matters is given."
Homeschooling is the best place to do that!
Jesus was speaking to a crowd of people when he said that we are salt and light. He was teaching adults. He did not, nor does the Bible in any way, say that children are to be trained missionaries in the culture war. Jesus did not say, “Your kids are the salt and the light, so send them out to do the best they can.”
The Bible is very clear on the role of children. They are to be trained up by their parents so that when they grow up, they will not depart from the truth (Proverbs 22:6).

We do not need "permission" to homeschool! & judging by what's happening in the schools today, please have no doubt that you can do better than them.

Please always remember this!
If this is your first year to homeschool, let me prepare you for a few things.
You are answering the call to discipleship. It is a wonderful and amazing gift to be able to raise children, and the responsibility for their hearts and minds is huge! As you embark on this new way of life, remember that is IS a way of life. It is a marathon, and not a sprint.
You may expect perfect little pupils and a 1950's-storybook-day. Sometimes you'll get that and sometimes you won't. Your kids may love the curriculum you chose. Or not. They're kids.
There will be sick days and water-heater-leak days. There will be amazing moments of learning, and there will be tears during math. One day you'll think homeschooling is the best decision you've ever made, and the next day you'll wonder what you were thinking.
This is all very normal, because this is parenting. Now you're parenting with school supplies!
Remember, more than little school students, you are nurturing hearts and souls. You are raising the next generation. As home educators, you have the gift of time on your side. Parenting isn't always a breeze, and neither is homeschooling. It's a commitment for the long-term.
Remember this when the day doesn't go as planned. Remember the big picture. Take a deep breath. Pause and pray. And then do the next thing.
