On March 2nd, the level 2 firefighting students at Washington Square got to do a live burning of the sheds.
This was a collaboration across multiple programs (EMT, Construction, CSI, Firefighting)
Construction students built the sheds and provided the materials for the burn.
EMT ran a scenario where they needed to resuscitate a 'patient' from the fire.
CSI students investigated the scene after the fire, collecting evidence of what may have started the fire, etc.
Also a big thank you to who was on standby to ensure everything went safely & smoothly.

Last week, Mr. Lombardo and our EMT students traveled to Denver Health and Stadium Medical to get first hand exposure to future careers in the EMT field. EMT students received tours of both facilities, engaged with professionals in the field, and established industry connections with potential employers.
Established in 1860, Denver Health is the oldest continuously operating hospital in Colorado and the only Level I Trauma Center in the City of Denver whose main focus is to care for the people of the Rocky Mountain Region. Its EMT school was founded in 1974 and continues to be a leader in the field.
Stadium Medical is a prominent provider of event medical coverage and ambulance transportation services across the Denver Metro area and beyond. With the recent addition of 911 services, its comprehensive offerings now cater to a diverse range of patients and customers, all made possible by our inclusive team and collective expertise.

On February 25, our Year 2 Diesel Technology students visited the High Plains Ag Expo in Greeley as guests of 21st Century Equipment, exploring a different side of diesel—agricultural equipment. They traded semis for seeders and Bobcats for combines, many seeing this machinery up close for the first time.
Instructor Ellen Gutierrez, Washington Square Diesel Technology instructor, reflected, “It was great for students to see how what we study applies to real jobs. Hydraulics on a fertilizer sprayer may look different, but they use the same principles and key parts.”
Kian Martinez (‘11) said he had little experience with agriculture before the trip and was surprised by the level of science and math behind both growing food and operating the machinery used to harvest it. When asked if he could see himself pursuing an agriculture career, he paused, shook his head, and said, “But it’s good to know those careers exist. You never know!” Whether his future leads to highways or harvest fields, the greater takeaway was simple: sometimes the most important discovery is realizing just how many paths are available.
