Last week at Thomson Rotary, we heard from Stacee Leslie, Gifted Specialist at Maxwell Elementary School!

Stacee gave us a look at all the exciting STEM opportunities happening at Maxwell and shared how students are getting hands-on with science, technology, engineering and math. It was great to see the creative ways our local educators are encouraging students to explore, problem-solve and think outside the box!

Thank you, Stacee, for joining us and giving us a glimpse into the great things happening at Maxwell Elementary!

Last week at Rotary, we had the opportunity to hear from former Augusta Mayor Bob Young.

Bob gave us a fascinating look back at history, shared some of the books he has written for those interested in learning more about our community, and talked about a project that has been decades in the making — a new veterans cemetery coming to Augusta.

It was a great reminder of the history behind the community we call home and the importance of preserving that history while continuing to build for the future.

Thank you, Bob, for spending time with us and sharing your stories and perspective!

Rotary Recap 🏈

We had the pleasure of hearing from Coach Youngblood and getting an inside look at what’s ahead for the season! 🏈

From how the schedule comes together and why certain teams were selected, to navigating heat-index restrictions and preparing players to handle tough situations on the field, Coach Youngblood gave us plenty of insight into what goes into building a successful team—both on and off the field.

One thing was clear: it’s about more than football. It’s about teaching young men how to respond with discipline, character and composure, even when the competition gets tough.

And we don’t have to wait long to see the team in action! The first home game is August 28th at the Brickyard against ARC. We’ll see you there! 🏈🔥
