Rotary Recap 🏈

We had the pleasure of hearing from Coach Youngblood and getting an inside look at what’s ahead for the season! 🏈

From how the schedule comes together and why certain teams were selected, to navigating heat-index restrictions and preparing players to handle tough situations on the field, Coach Youngblood gave us plenty of insight into what goes into building a successful team—both on and off the field.

One thing was clear: it’s about more than football. It’s about teaching young men how to respond with discipline, character and composure, even when the competition gets tough.

And we don’t have to wait long to see the team in action! The first home game is August 28th at the Brickyard against ARC. We’ll see you there! 🏈🔥

Yesterday, Thomson Rotary had the opportunity to hear from Kevin Cowart, Plant Manager for Vulcan Materials, as he shared more about the company’s operations and the important role they play in our community.

Kevin provided insight into what Vulcan Materials does, how their quarry operations support local infrastructure, and the impact their work has throughout the region. We appreciate him taking the time to educate our members and highlight the importance of this local industry.

Last week, our club had the opportunity to hear from Shaun Andrews, Executive Director of Accelerate Augusta.

He shared an overview of Accelerate Augusta, its mission to support entrepreneurs and startups, and the exciting partnership with Augusta Technical College to help drive innovation and economic growth in our region.

Our club had the pleasure of hearing from the Look Ahead Georgia interns as they reflected on their summer internship experiences in McDuffie County.

From the skills they developed to the relationships they built, each student shared how this opportunity has prepared them for their future careers.

Thank you to these impressive young leaders for inspiring us with your growth, hard work, and dedication. We can't wait to see all that you'll accomplish!

Last week, we heard from Beth Newton with Something for Alex as she shared about their upcoming Alex’s Birthday Giveback! ❤️

Join the community on July 21, 2026, at the McDuffie Achievement Center parking lot for a day of giving back and serving others.

Ways you can participate:
🩸 Donate blood from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
🍽️ Help serve or receive a hot meal beginning at 4:30 PM
🎁 Receive one blessing bag per vehicle

Whether you volunteer your time, donate blood, or simply come out to support this incredible event, there are many ways to make a difference.

Today, we celebrate 250 years of freedom, opportunity, and the enduring spirit of our nation. As we gather with family, friends, and neighbors, we reflect on the values that unite us and the generations who have helped shape our country's story.

From all of us at Thomson Rotary, we wish you a safe, joyful, and memorable Fourth of July as we commemorate America's 250th birthday!

Thomson Rotary is honored to recognize two individuals whose longstanding service and contributions have strengthened our club.

🎹 For the past 22 years, Mrs. Kathy has faithfully shared her musical talents with us, providing the piano music that has become such a special part of our meetings. Her dedication and commitment have enriched our Rotary experience for more than two decades.

🤝 We also recognized Lenny for his outstanding leadership of our "Family of Rotary" segment over the past year. Through this role, he has helped us celebrate milestones, support fellow members, and strengthen the connections that make our club feel like family.

In appreciation of his service, President Brittany presented Lenny with the President's Appreciation Award.

Please join us in thanking Mrs. Kathy and Lenny for their dedication, service, and the positive difference they have made in Thomson Rotary.

🔔 Passing of the Gavel 🔔

Yesterday, we celebrated one of Rotary's most meaningful traditions as President Brittany officially passed the gavel to our incoming Co-Presidents, Ian and Stacey.

We are grateful for Brittany's leadership, dedication, and service over the past year. Her commitment to Thomson Rotary has helped strengthen our club and our impact throughout the community.

As we begin a new Rotary year, we are excited to welcome Ian and Stacey into their roles as Co-Presidents. We look forward to their leadership and the opportunities ahead as we continue living out Rotary's motto of Service Above Self.

Thank you, Brittany, for a wonderful year, and congratulations to Ian and Stacey as they begin this new chapter!
