Reconnected with my bro this week. We first met at Queens College in 2009, and have had many moments over the years to catch each other up on our own respective career/life pursuits. You know it’s real when it feels like no time has passed, and you fall right back into that pocket.
This shoot was one of the more affirming/grounding experiences I’ve had in the last couple years. But also a reminder that there’s so much more left to do, and so much time left to do it. Just wait on it.

Last week I had the pleasure of presenting Hip Hop & Spoken Word Therapy for The Center for Global Affairs at NYU in partnership with the New York Peace Institute. The talk reached another level when an old student and good friend of mine, Jalib Johnson, showed up to perform with me. This track demonstrates the importance of collaboration (a.k.a. the therapeutic relationship) and self reflection when creating hip hop. Quite a surreal moment, glad we caught it on tape. This is the work!!!

I know I made a promise of a new album too all of you this summer. I try incredibly hard not to break promises but in reality I wound up spending a lot more time than expected job hunting. As a result I'm behind schedule but I promise you I'm still working constantly on a second, full length, project. New music very soon :)
