Today, the Class of 2026 celebrated their Baccalaureate Mass. This important milestone provides opportunities for our students to reflect on the many ways that God has blessed them and to ask God to continue to guide them as they continue their journey. Fr. Hanh, the celebrant, reminded the students that God is always with them and is the support they need in times of joy and struggle.
After the Mass, the students attended a luncheon and passport ceremony. This event marks their transition from SCA student to SCA Alumna. Keynote Speaker, Ashlica Malcolm, โ€˜14, reminded the students of the importance of the SCA sisterhood. Student body President, Bella Anglade, also addressed the class for the last time- reminding them to stay smart, safe and skillful. During the ceremony students were presented with a passport that can be โ€˜stampedโ€™ for different events including returning to SCA or visiting other Mercy schools. The students were also gifted with a rose from the Family Association to commemorate this important step in their life.

Students in the Advanced Placement US History Course traveled to Washington DC for a trip in association with Close Up, a nonpartisan education initiative whose mission is to give participants a deeper understanding of history, government institutions, current issues, and the role of citizens. Our goal is to inspire every person to find their voice and to help young people develop critical skills for tackling the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
During this four day immersion experience, students from SCA joined students from around the country as they explored sites, discussed historical and current events and met legislative representatives. This program is one of the many ways that SCA extends learning beyond the classroom and leverages partnerships to provide experiences that enhance our curriculum and build critical thinking, rhetoric and problem solving skills.
