Stormwise has been honored by After the Fire USA with an invitation to this exclusive summit for the past three years and this year was the best yet! So many leaders came with humble and collaborative attitudes to make a difference for megafire affected communities. Josiah Nish*ta is a great example of one who honors others. Really proud of the work he has done for the County of Maui.

Josiah Nish*ta, Managing Director of the County of Maui, closes the 2026 Summit by looking back at the lessons shared over the last three days and where Maui stands three years into recovery.

Again and again, it comes back to the same thing: we cannot do this alone. Recovery takes community, collaboration, and a willingness to work together, especially when things get hard. Recovery only moves as fast as the speed of trust, and as Josiah reminded us, the common enemy cannot become each other.

Recovery in Avoyelles Parish is moving forward—one home, one family, and one neighbor at a time.

Over the past several weeks, local volunteers have stepped up to make calls, verify needs, complete training, and now begin assessing homes across the parish.

Today, teams are heading into the community to sit with survivors, better understand the work still ahead, and help connect families with the volunteer support they need to keep moving toward recovery.

This is what community-led recovery looks like: local people showing up, learning the process, sharing the load, and taking care of their neighbors.

There is still a lot of work ahead, but Avoyelles is building something strong.

We are better together. ❤️

This week, something encouraging happened in Avoyelles Parish.

More than 20 volunteers from across the parish—including many from two of the hardest-hit communities, Plaucheville and Dupont—came together for their first Stormwise training, preparing to serve survivors throughout Avoyelles Parish.

These volunteers are investing their time, compassion, and talents to help their neighbors recover—one conversation and one family at a time.

Thank you to every person who said "yes" to serving. Recovery is strongest when it comes from within the community, and this group is already proving that.

We're just getting started. ❤️

Recovery doesn't happen because of one organization—it happens because leaders choose to come together.

In Avoyelles Parish, we've had the privilege of watching pastors, nonprofits, elected officials, emergency managers, volunteers, and community champions rally around one shared purpose: helping neighbors recover from Tropical Storm Arthur.

Every meeting, every phone call, every partnership, and every hour invested is another reminder that the strength of a community isn't measured by the storm it faces, but by the people who choose to stand together afterward.

We're honored to play a small part in supporting these incredible leaders as they build systems, strengthen collaboration, and create a path forward for families still recovering.

Thank you to every leader, volunteer, and partner investing in the future of Avoyelles Parish. We can't wait to see what this community accomplishes together. ❤️

No one plans for disaster—especially not twice.

Just one year and 12 days after the July 4th flood that changed Kerr County forever, the Hill Country has flooded again. Many residents are shaken, and for survivors still recovering, this new disaster has reopened wounds that were never fully healed.

Because Kerr Together Long-Term Recovery Group and their incredible network of local partners were already in place, they were able to begin helping immediately—connecting neighbors with resources, coordinating support, and walking alongside families through another difficult chapter.

Last week, Stormwise had the privilege of spending time with these leaders, supporting their work by bringing greater clarity to the processes that help survivors access the assistance they need.

Recovery is never the work of one organization. It's a community choosing to carry one another through the hardest days.

We're grateful to stand beside Kerr Together LTRG and their partners as they continue bringing hope to Kerr County—one family at a time. ❤️

As Hunt marks one year since the flood that changed their community forever, we're reminded that recovery is about so much more than rebuilding homes—it's about rebuilding hope.
Over the past year, we've had the privilege of partnering with the Hunt Preservation Society. In the face of unimaginable loss, we've watched neighbors become leaders, volunteers become friends, and a community come together to help families move forward.
This Fourth of July carried both remembrance and hope. As the community honored those they lost, they also gathered to celebrate the resilience that has carried them through the past year and the promise of brighter days ahead.
We were honored to stand alongside our partners at the Hunt Preservation Society as they hosted a sunrise memorial service and a community picnic—two meaningful moments that reflected both the weight of the journey and the strength of the people walking it together.
What they've built is more than a recovery effort—it's a stronger, more connected community.
Here's to all that has been accomplished, all that's still ahead, and the enduring truth that relational communities are resilient communities. ❤️

In the wake of devastating flooding, Avoyelles Parish, La has shown what can happen when a community comes together.

We're honored to stand alongside Love Acadiana, local churches, community leaders, and countless volunteers as they bring clarity to the recovery effort. Together, families are being connected with help, homes are being assessed, and hope is taking root one neighbor at a time.

Recovery is never the work of one organization. It's the result of people choosing to serve together, meeting practical needs while reminding survivors they have not been forgotten.
This is what resilient communities look like.

For years, Stormwise has had the privilege of walking alongside HOMES, Inc. as they continue the hard, steady work of strengthening housing and opportunity in their community.

This week, we returned for another round of systems development, workflow refinement, and operational support — helping continue the work of increasing clarity, efficiency, and tracking across their programs so their team can stay focused on people instead of paperwork.

What makes partnerships like this meaningful isn’t just the technology. It’s the willingness of organizations like HOMES to continually grow, adapt, and invest in serving their communities well. 💙
