Starting my 61st year today!

Voting is ALWAYS about the future and what you think of the present situation. Today this civic action seems more important than in any of my previous ballots since I started voting in the 1970’s.

My dear friend and “diabetes brother from a different mother” Joe Solowiejczyk RN, MSW, CDCES (author, educator and diabetes advocate) coined the phrase “dancing with the iLet” as a metaphor for success with a fully adaptive iLet bionic pancreas system. I created this image that captures the essence of his message. We will be conducting several on line and live presentations in the coming weeks about our patient’s iLet experiences. I will share those dates and locations as we get closer to them.

Today, John Robert Navar and his wife Cheryl (from Corpus Christi) generously donated 50 T1D Barbies for the kids in our practice here at McLane Children’s Hospital. They have distributed 2,000 dolls so far to 17 states. They are currently on their way to Dallas to share more of them with Peds Endo groups there and in Fort Worth.
John and Cheryl would like to meet with senior executives at Mattel in California to discuss larger donations and even expanding the T1D doll universe.
