Natasha Tolleson has retired from Temple ISD as of May 27, 2022. She will become the Managing and Artistic Director of Temple Civic Theatre on July 5, 2022.

NATASHA TOLLESON SCHLOARSHIP

The Temple Coalition for the Fine Arts has created a scholarship fund to honor Natasha Tolleson as she retires after 31 years as Temple High School's theatre arts director. The TCFA is a 501(c)(3) organization so your donation can be tax deductible through a check or PayPal.

Temple High Thespians assisted with the district-wide TISD Spring Carnival on May 7th, held at Jefferson and Raye-Allen Elementary Schools. The carnivals included student performances, food trucks, free games and more.

Temple High School dramatic design students traveled to Houston on May 13, 2022, to The Museum of Fine Arts. The class is pictured in front of the portrait of President Barack Obama. Also on display was the portrait of First Lady Michelle Obama. The paintings are on loan from the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery and have been to Chicago, Brooklyn, Los Angeles and Atlanta. After Houston, the tour continues to San Francisco and Boston. The museum also contained a collection of the Art of M.C. Escher and many other exhibits.

HONORING NATASHA TOLLESON

Temple ISD will host a come-and-go reception honoring Natasha Tolleson for her 31 years of service as the director of the Temple High School theatre arts department. The event is scheduled for Monday, May 23, 2022, from four to six p.m., on the second floor of the school district administrative offices located at 401 Santa Fe Way (in downtown Temple near the railroad depot).

Please share with former students, friends and parents.

In UIL one-act play competitions, her teams have won state championships two times — "Ruthless!" in 2007 and "Bug" in 2016, and have been named a District Champion for the past 30 years in a row. No other UIL team at Temple High School holds such a record. Her students have also won two state championships in the UIL Theatrical Design competition and a state championship in the UIL Film Contest.

In 2018, she was selected as Educator of the Year by the Texas Educational Theatre Association. In 2011, she was named one of the Top 15 UIL Sponsors in Texas. In 2014, she was inducted into the Texas Thespians Hall of Fame.

FINAL PERFORMANCE DELAYED

Because of the weather, the final performance of Temple High's one-act play, scheduled for Tuesday night at 7 p.m., has been delayed. The performance will be Wednesday, April 13, at 7 p.m.

FINAL PERFORMANCE

A final performance of this year's one-act play, "Men on Boats", will by Tuesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. in the Temple High School Auditorium. Admission is $5 (cash or check only).

A reception honoring the entire company will follow the performance.

Temple's One-Act Journey Ends at Midway

Temple High School's one-act play, Men on Boats, did not advance from the area contest held Saturday, April 2, at the Midway ISD Performing Arts Center. Advancing schools were Rockwall Heath, Waxahachie and Wylie. Natalie Greenfield was named to the all-star cast. Hanna Prince and Skyler Gordon were awarded honorable mention all-star cast. Mekena McVean was named to the all-star technical crew.

A final public performance will be scheduled.

Temple One-Act Competes Saturday at Midway

Don't forget that Temple High School's one-act team will compete at the UIL Area Contest on Saturday, April 2, at the Midway ISD Performing Arts Center, 800 Hewitt Drive, Hewitt TX 76643. Performances begin at 1 p.m. and Temple is the 3rd school, so the Wildcats should perform around 3 p.m. Admission is $5 per person (cash or check only).

Temple will be competing against Waxahachie, North Garland, Wylie, Midway and Rockwall Heath. For more information, visit http://www.ThespiansR.Us
