I'm Laura, a mother of two daughters who started 22 years ago my journey with the PEKiP® program together with my then-baby girls. As you can imagine, my heart never left this fantastic learning opportunity. Ever since, I've wanted to share my experience being in the prog

ram as a new mama and the beautiful things I've learned with my babies. As a certified Educational Social Worker (German: Diplom Sozialpaedagogin (FH)), continuing my education, I've been trained in Germany to teach the PEKiP® program that I fell in love with. Being able to open up a whole new world to parents with newborns in the US, I'm aiming to make your new journey with your baby a more fulfilled experience, empowering you with brain-body-bonding activities, and research-based PEKiP play ideas beyond imagination. My goal is to inform and support you in discovering your baby's natural potential, and leaving you joyful while feeling lost in play with your most precious being in the world, your baby. PEKiP is an educational program for parents and their babies (0-12months) through the first year of life. Based on years of research, psychologists, sociologists, and social workers in Germany developed the "Little Parenting School," which has been successfully taught across German-speaking countries of Europe for over four decades. What is unique about PEKiP classes at Baby Parent Steps?
*Early start at 4-6 weeks of life, focusing on interaction, engagement, and movement stimulation for the whole body supporting baby brain and body development and enhancing the bonding process.
*Small class sizes: 4-6 babies of similar age accompanied by one of their parents
*Group sessions are offered for 75 minutes in person in a welcoming environment once a week. Due to the ongoing pandemic, all classes are virtual via ZOOM until further notice. Private sessions are 45 min; virtual group classes are 60-75 minutes, depending on the number of participants. Infants as young as 6 weeks can be enrolled in age-appropriate classes: 1-3 months, 4-6 months, or 7-12 months. The program can be customized to allow your baby to learn and explore the world at their own pace.
*Individual attention in each session helps transfer the learning success of the parent into everyday life at home or on the go.
* The environment is purposefully arranged for each session (for in-person classes) and demonstrated for all virtual and in-person courses. Creativity has no limits; you will receive suggestions on what you need and how to prepare for your upcoming session. Don't worry; you have almost everything you need for class in your home; otherwise, you can improvise. I'm here to help you create a nurturing and safe environment and challenge your baby to play and have fun without feeling overwhelmed.
* My doll Lisa, whose primary purpose is helping demonstrate activities and providing help for hands-on practice, is the only assistant in class. Classes are taught by an experienced Certified PEKiP® Educator. Our Story

Baby-Parent-Steps offers classes for parents with babies during their 1st year of life. All sessions are based on PEKiP® the most successful research-based German educational program providing enriching sensory-motor activities for brain and body development.

We empower new parents to discover their baby’s natural potential through research-based, simple, practical, easy to follow sensory games and activities based on the ”learning by doing” principle.

Our goal is to support baby brain and body development through age-appropriate activities and to support parents in their role as new moms and dads. Parents learn the joy in bonding through interaction with their baby as they assist them in reaching important stages in the physical, cognitive, social- emotional areas.

Class categories range from 6 weeks to 12 months or until the child is walking. Small classes with a maximum of 4-5 babies and 4-5 parents and private sessions are also available. During COVID-19 pandemic year all classes are available due to the pandemic via ZOOM until further notice.

Benefits of the program? We offer over 100 enriching sensory-motor activities focusing on movement-stimulation of the whole body, supporting baby brain and body development in a purposefully arranged environment, and on enhancing the bonding process during the most sensitive period in a baby’s life, the first year. Individual attention to each baby-parent interaction and activity helps transfer the learning success into everyday life at home or on the go. Gaining confidence as a parent, connecting parents with babies of similar age in one class, sensitizing parents’ perception of daily routines, developing increased awareness of their baby’s skills, improving baby body awareness and experiencing games that encourage play and movement are just a few of the benefits of the Parent Baby Steps classes.

Being the first active PEKiP® instructor in the U.S. is an exciting and challenging adventure. I feel lucky to be able to offer an inspirational and empowering program for parents with newborns, a program full of enriching activities, to provide support for a healthy natural development of the baby and to enhance the bonding process from the very beginning of life.

Watching babies thrive and seeing parents gain confidence by the end of each Baby-Parent-Steps class are some of the proudest moments I experience in my teaching. Babies are the future of our society and our country! The opportunity of introducing the baby-parent program PEKiP® to the U.S. and the role I play in changing the way our society views parenting in the first year of life is a dream come true.

More information on the Baby Parent Steps classes based on PEKiP:
Each class is designed for a maximum of 4-5 parents and 4-5 babies who are of similar age. Classes consist usually of ten sessions that are held once a week for 75 minutes in a welcoming environment. Infants as young as four weeks old can be enrolled in age-appropriate classes: 1-3, 4-6 or 7-12 months old babies with one parent per baby in class. The program can be customized to allow your baby to learn and explore the world at their own pace. Depending on baby’s age an advance class can be recommended until the baby is walking.

Individual sessions and small classes are taught by Laura, a Certified PEKiP® Educator and Qualified Social Education Worker. At Baby Parent Steps Laura introduced the program to Arizona in 2015 and is excited to share research-based activities with parents and babies. Learn, bond, play, interact, connect, and explore together with your baby and meet like minded mamas with similar age babies in the same class.
