In just a couple days, on March 2, we will reach the 68th anniversary of Claudette Colvin refusing to give up her bus seat in Montgomery, Alabama. 68 years is very recent, and Black History is still being made today. Even though Black History Month ends today, we will continue to celebrate every day, and we hope you will do the same!

Meet our PSP Eta Upsilon Brother of the Month, Jordan Quinones. This Gamma class member recently became our PR Chair: building our social media and relationships. Jordan is also a Student Veterans Association Board member as Online Program Coordinator and serves as an Online Relations Officer of the IEEE-HKN Honor Society of Electrical Engineers. Originally from San Antonio, Jordan now lives in Pilot Point, Texas with his wife, children, and dogs, Kona and Hades.
MAJOR
Jordan is pursuing his BSE in Electrical Engineering (Electrical Power and Energy Systems), going into the 4+1 program for his master's, then pursuing a Ph.D., allowing him to do his own research. His passions are being a dad, helping veterans, and engineering.
ADVOCACY
In the Navy for 4 years, and in the Army for 6 years, Jordan may still be in now if it weren’t for health issues. “I like taking care of and advocating for soldiers and have a desire to serve and provide. Vet advocacy is part of who I am. Service is putting someone ahead of yourself.”
BEING A DAD
Being a Father is a very serious role for him. Jordan homeschools his children, Jaden, 12, and Maya, 9, playing a very active part in their upbringing.
“The first 18 years that you raise your children, optimize that time...use it wisely. The meaning of life is the development of our future.”
PSP
“The people here are some of the best of best when it comes to student body… I like the Tripod: leadership, fellowship, and scholarship.” Jordan feels it’s important to be involved with other like-minded, driven individuals working together, and growing each other. He brings his leadership skills to the PR committee and enjoys the role of advising other leaders.
FUN FACTS
Jordan has traveled the world 3+ times and has been to four of the 7 continents. He’s visited Hong Kong, Perth, India, Dubai, and Germany to name a few.
Jordan encourages traveling somewhere different in the world for a while to get a wiser worldview. Then, challenge 3 of your 5 senses wherever you go and have real conversations with local people.
“We are here to participate, be human, everything else will fall into place.”
