Memorial Day is a sacred pause to remember the courage, sacrifice, and profound love of those who served our country. The ones who chose duty over comfort, who showed up so we could be free.

There's a design principle I think about often: The most powerful work honors what came before while inspiring what comes next. Today, we honor the legacy of those who paved the way for all of us.

I’m missing my mom today. I can’t hug her or call her the way I want to—but I can honor her by celebrating the love, strength, and care that mothers bring into the world in so many forms.

You’re the ones who show up, even when it’s hard. Who love fiercely. Who create magic out of the everyday. 💚✨

After 13 years in a leadership role within my community, I made the difficult decision to step down.

It wasn’t an easy choice — and truthfully, a heartbreaking one.

But I’ve learned that sometimes leadership isn’t about holding on…
it’s about recognizing when your role in something has reached its natural close.

Over the years, I’ve come to understand that whether you’re building a community, a brand, or a digital experience — the same principles apply:

• Good intentions aren't enough—follow-through is everything
• Structure and guidelines aren’t limitations — they’re what make growth sustainable
• Not every decision feels good in the moment, but the right ones serve the whole
• And most importantly — alignment is everything

You can bring experience, vision, and genuine care to something…
but without shared alignment, even the strongest foundations start to strain.

As a designer, this has shaped how I approach everything I create.

Good design isn’t just about how something looks —
it’s about building systems that hold up over time,
that function under pressure,
and that serve something bigger than any one person.

I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve helped move forward over the past 13 years — especially the long-term improvements, structural decisions, and forward-thinking planning that will continue to support the community well into the future.

Now, I’m closing one door… and opening a window.

Shifting that same energy back into my work, my clients, and the things I’m building next.

if it’s not built to last, it’s not built right.

Adjunct Instructor | Computer Information Systems (CIS) at Mesa Community College!

so i jumped on that viral chatgpt caricature trend and...

the accuracy is honestly kind of wild (though it can never seems to get my face right lol) , but ai just casually captured my whole vibe in one image: design tools, animals, nature, my cowboy hat, and my leadership in the HOA, in one simple and generic prompt.

which got me thinking—if ai can learn us this well, are we learning ourselves and ai in the way its learning us, to our advantage or disadvantage?

here's what i know: ai isn't magic. it's a mirror. it learns from what we show the world. our choices, our work, our energy. and if it can reflect us this accurately, what does that say about how intentional we're being with our own brands?

this is literally what i do with clients. help them become so *clearly* themselves that their brand feels like a real person, not a marketing machine. no filter. no fluff. just authentic visual storytelling.

so maybe the real question is: are we brave enough to be this honest about who we are? 🎨

2026 is here, and I'm jumping into it.

I'm reflecting on what it means to grow—not by erasing the past, but by integrating it. This year isn't about a complete rebrand; it's about deepening my commitment to authentic design, meaningful work, and creative problem-solving.

I won't pretend the challenges won't show up. They will. But I'm choosing to see them differently this year—as invitations to adapt, to get creative, to find new ways forward.

And I am going to finally finish my new website lol, I got so busy with everyone else's creative I put mine to the back burner but no longer—it's time and I'm ready.

Wishing you all the happiest New Year, whatever it holds that we meet it with a smile and grin cause we know we are up for the challenge.
