Wild Burros in Arizona | Bureau of Land Management 05/08/2026

Happy World Donkey Day! We've all seen some jackasses out at Lake Pleasant - but also some burros, too. ;-) The donkey has been used as a working animal for thousands of years, hence the yearly celebration on May 8th. The wild burros in Arizona are part cute tourist attraction, and part nuisance. In their current overpopulated state, studies have found negative effects on the desert habitat from the burros eating Palo Verde and Ironwood trees. (We've also heard they eat cake and gummies...) Whatever your thoughts on our resident burros, you can learn more about them here: https://www.blm.gov/arizona/public-room/brochure/wild-burros-arizona

Wild Burros in Arizona | Bureau of Land Management The wild burros on BLM-managed public lands in Arizona provide a unique experience we hope you will enjoy, but please remember: they are undomesticated animals and can be dangerous.

April Meeting: Newport to San Diego Experience

Sometimes in sailing, you have to change tacks - the same thing goes for yacht club organizing! Our original April meeting speaker had to cancel, so we're changing topics slightly, but the evening still promises to be engaging! This month we will hear from "Rolling in the Deep" about the Newport to San Diego race.
