Thank you to everyone who joined us for our latest Research Conexiones event yesterday. We loved celebrating new scholarship on Latino communities and the voices shaping this work! Grateful to our presenters, Jesus Villa and Francisco Carrillo, for sharing their research and sparking meaningful discussion. We were thrilled to co-sponsor a special event yesterday, Tuesday April 14th, featuring the incomparable Julia Alvarez. Her reading and conversation offered a meaningful glimpse into her work and voice—it was an honor to be part of it. We loved learning about how the poem inhabits when the borderlands disappear.

Recap from last week’s Spring 2026 Kopf Conference we hosted with our friends at SPGS; Citizenship in a Changing World: Faith, Migration, and Belonging. The event brought together scholars and community voices for timely conversations on migration, identity, and justice across a dynamic lineup of panels. We were honored to feature keynote speaker Francisco Lozada, whose address highlighted the ethical and cultural dimensions shaping citizenship today.

For this week's Art Showcase, in celebration of Women's History Month, we highlight artworks from the HRC collection that reflect the many stories, identities, and contributions of women across culture and community.

These pieces explore the multifaceted roles women hold in society, honoring their influence in family, faith, music, politics, and everyday life. Through diverse artistic styles and perspectives, the works invite us to reflect on the strength, creativity, and resilience that women bring to every generation.

Happy Arizona Statehood Day! Arizona was granted statehood on February 14, 1912 which makes AZ 114 years old!

Congratulations to our scavenger hunt winners!! It was a very close game with there only being a 200 point difference between last and first place.
