We are about a month away from our pen pal meet-ups so I am prepping the pen pal kits that I give to all participants. I’m still in need of donations for these kits, so if you can help in any way, it’s greatly appreciated! I have 161 pen pals this year! Here is my Amazon wish list. I also appreciate blank cards and thank you notes from dollar stores. I’m grateful for any and all donations! Thank you in advance!

Today we celebrated this beautiful lady who turned 90 on December 11! Carol has been a pen pal with our program for 8 years and is a joy to talk to. She has touched many lives over the years, and I am grateful to have gotten to know her. She is from Montana (where her heart is), loves the color red, and she says each one of her children, grand children, and great grandchildren are special! ❤️🎈🥳🫶

Thank you to all those who have generously donated supplies for my pen pal writing kits! We are still in need of items to make up these kits for our 160+ pen pals this year. Even a pack of blank note cards from the dollar store helps. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and put to good use! Thank you in advance for your support. 🥰

That’s a wrap! Our final meet-up of this school year is in the books! These students from Mosley Middle School finally met their pen pals face-to-face at their end-of-the year meet-up after writing to each other all school year. These 41 students and 35 adult pen pals exchanged nearly 200 cards and letters this school year from November through April. Though most of these pen pals live in the same community, we did have a few from out of state and one from Denmark! Many of the students were a little nervous to meet their pen pals, but they quickly warmed up to the idea and shared some smiles, laughs, fun times, and good conversations. These pen pals all made an impact in each other’s lives, and for that we are grateful.

Scales Technology Academy Pen Pals were nervous at first but once they got to finally meet their pen pals, it was like they were old friends! Their Meet-Up was a morning filled with crafts, a word search, and one-on-one time to get to know each other even better! These pen pals made an impact in each other’s lives after exchanging about 250 cards and letters this school year! This was a day we will never forget! 🥰💌💕

Making connections across generations: Our Mosley Middle School 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-graders had a great time meeting their pen pals at our end-of-the-year Meet-Up! They played games and made friendship bracelets, and spent time talking to each other one-on-one. This year, our second year at Mosley, we doubled our number of participants and all together we exchanged more than 300 cards and letters from September through April! We even had pen pals from as far away as Lake Havasu, Washington state, Montana, and Massachusetts! Thank you pen pals for making an impact in each other’s lives! If you want to get involved, email [email protected] 🥰💌📬

Making connections across generations: Our Ward 2nd- and 4th-graders had a great time meeting their pen pals from Friendship Village at our Meet-Up! They sang a friendship song for the seniors and all had so much fun talking one-on-one, making friendship bracelets, and doing a word search together. This year, our seventh year at Ward, we doubled our number of participants and all together we exchanged nearly 300 cards and letters from September through April! Most of our pen pals will continue writing to each other over the summer. Thank you pen pals for making an impact in each other’s lives! 🥰💌📬

Our Pen Pal Meet-up Party was so much fun! It was our third year of the Pen Pal Program at Scales and we exchanged a total of more than 260 letters this school year from August through May. That’s about 80 more than last year! This year we made pet blankets for a local animal shelter as our activity! Ms. Sudman can’t wait for her class to be pen pals again next year! Thank you all for making a difference in someone else’s life and in your community! 🥰💌📬🐶😻 Tempe Elementary School District Scales Technology Academy
