My Dear friend and mentor, Vic Feazell, sent me this picture this morning.
In another life and time, I made this independent semi-cult hit called, RHINOS. It was a dream come true that was created on a wing and a prayer with best friend at the time, Chad Nell. He and I wrote a script with the dumb confidence that only a couple of dreamers in their 20s could have done. Fast forward, we made it happen into a full length feature film. 🎥
Who knew we would win indie awards like the Best Feature at the Austin Film Festival and the New York International Film Festival, among others, while running as the midnight movie at the then newly formed Alamo Drafthouse movie theater, in Austin, Texas.
Thanks to belief of legendary Texas attorney, executive producer and co-star (who I was personal training at the time) together, we made a dream happen. Vic said “if makes me laugh or cry before reading the script, I will make this with you.”The rest is history.
In many ways, my belief in dreaming it and doing it, was shaped by this experience and I will forever be grateful for this special movie and always consider myself a RHINO 🦏 🍿 🎦 ❤️
