When tough choices arise, our priority remains clear: Classrooms Come First.
Here is how dedicated, proven leadership continues to deliver real results for Teaneck Public Schools:
Protecting the Classroom First: When facing difficult budget decisions, we consistently push to protect core academic programs, classroom resources, and manageable class sizes.
Fiscal Responsibility: As Chair of the Finance & Facilities Committee, David Gruber helped keep tax increases under 3% for two consecutive budgets (2.5% and 2.99%) while preserving district financial reserves.
Special Education Close to Home: Serving on the Special Education Committee, Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum led efforts to bring special education classes back into our local schools ensuring students learn close to home while reducing costly out-of-district transportation expenses.
Supporting Teaneck Staff: At the negotiations table, David Gruber works directly to secure fair contracts for our teachers, administrators, and maintenance staff, with key agreements already settled.
Academic Standards & Student Growth:As Curriculum Committee Chair, Dr. Kirshenbaum established clear annual growth goals, identified where students need support, and updated graduation requirements at Teaneck High School to ensure every graduate is prepared for what comes next.
Tackling Rising Costs: We raised the alarm on rapidly growing health insurance costs, putting healthcare expenses at the top of the board's agenda and working with State Senator Johnson to fight for state relief so every dollar saved stays right where it belongs in the classroom.
Experience matters when protecting our schools, supporting our educators, and maintaining responsible budget controls.
