Yesterday was an exciting day at Calvin Smith! We had a few special visitors. We have First Lady Abby Cox and Beehive Meals come and bring our staff free meals that our Preschool Speech Therapist, Michelle Proctor, won at the Show Up For Teachers Conference.

Then last night Principal Everett was able to receive the grant for our afterschool programs from the Ron McBride Foundation. This generous grant will allow us to provide great opportunities for our students throughout the year.

We love all the exciting things that are happening and we appreciate all of those who make it possible!

Dear Calvin Smith Families,

We are looking for parents and guardians who are interested in serving on our School Community Council (SCC) for the 2026–2027 school year.

Our School Community Council brings school staff and community members together to help identify school needs, provide input on important school priorities, and help guide the use of certain school funds. Your perspective as a parent or guardian is an important part of this process.

You do not need to have previous experience serving on a community council. We welcome parents and guardians from all backgrounds to help make Calvin Smith Elementary an even better place for students.

If you are interested in serving on our School Community Council, please fill out the Declaration of Candidacy form (linked below) no later than Wednesday, August 19th.

Good Morning Calvin Smith Families!

Yesterday was a great day! It was so nice to have the students back for another school year.

I want to thank everyone for their patience as we all navigate this new schedule. We wanted to make everyone aware of a couple of updates for our First and Second Grade students. It was requested that we have all students rotate back to Homeroom at the end of the day and exit through the same doors that they entered in the morning. We found this to be problematic and that it took up valuable instructional time getting our younger students back to their Homeroom. We met as a First and Second Grade team yesterday after school and decided that we would like to have the students end the day with their second period teacher. This will mean that the second period teacher will be excusing the students at the end of the day, and that a student may exit the school from the same door they entered.

Again, this change will only effect First and Second Grade students.

Calvin Smith families we're excited to invite you to our Back to School event for the 2026-2027 school year! We have so many great activities for you to complete at this event that you'll want to plan on being there for at least 45 minutes.

Who: All K-5 students and their families.

When: Monday, August 10th from 4:00 - 5:30 PM.

What: Come and learn which teachers your student will have. (All students will have more than one teacher this year.) Get connected to all your teachers on ClassDojo. Complete your student's registration, free and reduced lunch application, and make sure your parent portal is up and running.

You'll also get to meet our new Principal, Mr. Everett, and get a yummy treat just for participating. We can't wait to see you all there!
