Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff,

In recognition of the funeral services for Lola and King Scott, and to allow our students, families, and staff the opportunity to honor their memory and support one another during this difficult time, summer school classes will not be held on Monday, June 8, 2026.

The loss of these two young lives has deeply impacted our school community. Our thoughts and prayers remain with their family, friends, classmates, and all those affected by this tragedy.

We encourage those who wish to attend the funeral services or pay their respects to do so. Summer school classes will resume on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, following the regular schedule. Counseling for students and staff is available as needed.

Thank you for your understanding, compassion, and support as we come together as a school family during this time of mourning.

It is with profound sadness that the Tarrant City Schools family share the heartbreaking loss of two of our students following a tragic accident this past weekend at Turkey Creek.

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with the family, friends, classmates, and all who have been impacted by this tremendous loss. During this difficult time, we ask our community to keep this family in your hearts and respect their privacy as they grieve.

For those wishing to express their condolences, cards and letters to the families are being collected and may be dropped off at the Tarrant Intermediate School office. These messages of love and support will be shared with the family.

A family friend has established a GoFundMe to financially support the family during this difficult time.

We recognize that this tragedy affects our entire school community. Counselors will be available at Tarrant Elementary School and Tarrant Intermediate School to provide support for students, staff, and families as needed.

As a school family, we will lean on one another, offer support, and honor the memories of these precious students. Please continue to keep everyone affected in your thoughts and prayers.

Tarrant High School’s SGA Leads the Way !

Earlier this month, Tarrant High School’s Student Government Association led the City Council Meeting, and we were incredibly proud of our inaugural “Kids Take the Council!”

Mayor Threadford welcomed our outstanding student leaders:

• Mayor’s Role – Tristan Goodwin
• Chaplain’s Role – Kham Taylor
• Chief’s Role – Gabby Faison
• City Clerk’s Role – Wendy Wu

These amazing graduating seniors opened the council meeting from calling the meeting to order, to leading the prayer, the pledge, and conducting roll call. Our seniors did an amazing job! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

We are excited to watch these future leaders continue to grow and lead. This was more than just a moment — it was an investment in the next generation.
