We had a blast hosting Joe Taylor for his Blobjects sculpture class last weekend! Joe joins us from Montana, he is currently long term resident Red Lodge Clay Center. Participants each made a blobject sculpture using Joe’s hand building skills like book matching slabs and various texture tools. Joe encouraged multiple parts of clay in the construction of the sculptures. Lastly the pieces were finished with stained slip, instead of underglaze! All of us at TCC had a great time and thank Joe for sharing his knowledge with us!

Taos Ceramic Center and artist-in-residence will be celebrating the opening of “Moments: A state of being.” this Saturday, May 23rd, from 5-7 pm. Come support our artist-in-residence program and meet the artist behind these mind-blowing porcelain works! Don’t miss it—this exceptional exhibition will be open only through May 31st.

Have you seen the current gallery exhibition at the Taos Ceramics Center? Until May 9th, we are showcasing selected ceramic artwork by UNM students alongside the ceramics of their instructor, Lee Akins. Monotypes by Gary Cook, who teaches printmaking at UNM, are also on display. Grab a friend and come by!
