😃 There’s just something about playing the ukulele that brings a smile to our faces! 🤟🏽

🤙🏽 During our recent beginner series at Kenly Park our students learned about the popularity of the ukulele in Hawaii 🌸, including the historic rendition of Israel Kakawiwo’ole’s “Somewhere of the Rainbow 🌈” Plus, along the way, we learned multiple chords shapes and how to sing and play over 5 songs! 👏🏽

💪🏽 All of our students have earned their own ukulele and have become musical mentors to our new incoming bandmates! We are so proud!! 💙

🎵The next music legends of Central Avenue!🤟🏽

🎙️Our students from Kid Mason were eager to learn about the rich musical history of downtown Tampa! During the era of the Chitlin’ Circuit, Central Avenue was home to many iconic music venues that helped launch the legendary careers of artists like James Brown, Ella Fitzgerald, B.B. King, and Billie Holiday.🌸

🕶️ Even more special, the Kid Mason Recreation Center sits right next to where Tampa’s adopted son, Ray Charles, once lived, wrote, and recorded his first song, “St. Pete Blues.” 🎹

✨Moments like these remind us that music education is about more than learning notes. 🎶 It’s about connection, culture, and inspiring the next generation to help carry our legacy forward.💙

Through Ms. Sara’s Sound Exploration & Expression program, we learned how to tap into our creative flow state and discover why sounds have such a powerful effect on how we feel. 🎶

🤟🏽All of our students have become musical mentors and earned their very own tongue drums to continue spreading positive frequencies!✌🏽

🤟🏽Their amazing work is now on display at the C. Blythe Andrews Library through Dec 6th. Huge i4L thanks to everyone who came out for our opening gallery party! We loved connecting with you all and are so grateful for the support and love shown to our students by the commUNITY. 💙

Our Visual Voice program, curated by Dr. Katie, teaches students the fundamentals of digital photography — helping them capture meaningful moments in their lives and write their own photo captions. Each student who completes the program earns their very own digital camera so they can continue expressing themselves creatively!
