While debating the appropriateness of this post coming from my mom’s Facebook account, I was encouraged by a few close to me, to share the funeral information here for those who would like to know.

The Funeral will be a graveside service on Friday (January 20th) at 10 am at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park (in Tampa).

For those of you across the globe who are unable to attend, but wish to…I am attaching the zoom link to the bottom of this post.

For those that are local, shiva will be held at my parents house on Sunday, January 22nd at 6 pm—for those that wish to attend.

In addition, as per my mom’s request, there will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony at “Heaven on Earth” (as my mom called it…aka Corbett Preparatory School of IDS) which is planned for March 5th.

Fellow SCATT/SCATTER Alumni we lost our friend/mentor/ ultimate educator. Dr. Swarzman was such a shining star to do many of us. Her legacy will live on in each one of us and y to he students we teach, rest in peace and fly high dear Dr. Swarzman

Corbett Prep lost its most passionate advocate today when our former head of school, Dr. Joyce Burick Swarzman, passed away peacefully this morning following a long fight with ALS. Joyce was a mentor, friend, and leader who always put kids first. She came to Corbett Prep/IDS from USF in 1996, planning to stay two years. It turned into more than two decades.

We honor her memory today and the powerful influence she had on her teachers and students. We know many of you will want to find a way to celebrate her, and we will share information with you about those efforts in the coming days.
