The Student Organizations of Library and Information Science (SOLIS) at the University of South Florida is holding executive board elections for the 2023-2024 school year!
(SOLIS) is run by and for students at the School of Information to help you get to know each other better and learn more about the world of library and information science. SOLIS is the combined student chapters of American Library Association (ALA) and Special Libraries Association (SLA).
Some of the benefits of becoming an officer in SOLIS include networking opportunities, leadership experience that looks great on your resume, a chance to meet other passionate MLIS students, and opportunities to plan the kinds of events you want to see as an MLIS student! The time commitment can be flexible as we know many students are balancing school, work, and other life commitments.
The following positions are open: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Archivist, Webmaster, and Marketing & Outreach Chair. Descriptions and responsibilities of each position are listed below.
The officer positions typically last for one academic year. No prior experience is necessary, nor does it matter if you are in the first or last semester of the program. To be considered for the position of your choice, email a brief bio, and a short letter of interest to [email protected] by Friday, April 14. The election will be conducted via an online survey.
