Instead of focusing on New Year’s resolutions or goals for 2024, think of what you would like to accomplish (some may say these are goals..?) and focus on- here comes the good stuff- your COMMITMENTS that will make those accomplishments a byproduct of your commitments. What are you willing to DO to make your goals a reality? Commitments and actions make things different. A goal without action is a daydream. Make it happen!!

Thoughts From A College Football Game... We went to Gainesville Saturday to watch the Arkansas Razorbacks play the Florida Gators in football. The experience that is a college football game is truly amazing. 89,000 people gathered for over three hours to watch- at most- 17 minutes of actual football being played. The time that the clock runs down with no action, the Media timeouts, etc drag it out to last over three hours. And nearly 90K people were quite happy about that. Fans spend hundreds of dollars on tickets, hassle over parking, food and drinks NOT to watch the game, but to be TOGETHER. To celebrate what we fans all agree is an exciting sport played by talented athletes. We all understand one another and our passion around football- above all else, we are ALL college football fans first, then Razorbacks & Gators. It is these shared experiences that make life experiences so valuable, and it is how we connect- through shared interests. With all the media frenzy on how divided we are, I challenge you to look around and find the ways we are similar, and the things we share in common with our neighbors. I'll bet it's more than you think... if you consume the "news" in any form or follow politics... (PS: In case you missed it, they want you to be afraid and angry- that's how they get you "hooked.") Get hooked on finding common ground with your co-workers, your neighbors, and your relatives that you don't speak to because of the way they voted in the last election. Stop the division. It starts with each one of us. I'll go first... Have an awesome day- I dare ya!

Thoughts are the language of the Mind, feelings are the language of the body. Your body and mind are connected, and at times work together and sometimes they are in competition for your energy and attention. Just know this: Your body speaks to you in words; your brain communicates in pictures. When you are rarely thinking in pictures, that means you are not using your creative mind... you are probably living in your limbic (survival) brain... Showers stimulate a theta (creative) brain state- which is why you always get great ideas in the shower! Keep a notebook in the bathroom for those great ideas!! Make somebody smile today... And every day! The Challenge Starts Wednesday!!

Consuming More Than You Are Serving or Creating? To serve is to feel significant and to be able to contribute to society. Two of the six human needs. I'm sure you also get the feeling of certainty and uncertainty, so that's 4 of 6! Not bad... Service to others is opposite of feeling useless, which a LOT of us do on a daily basis. Serve and feel significant, loved, and like you're contributing something useful to your community. Make today awesome and be the reason someone smiles today... and every day! Distort/Delete/Generalize! That's what our brains do. Our conscious mind is not capable of concentrating on much for long, so our brain deletes a LOT of information coming in each second of our lives. We don't think about how we can hear our heartbeat if we are still enough. When you are paying attention to what is making you afraid or angry, you are deleting whatever makes you grateful and appreciative... and conversely also true that when you focus on what you appreciate, you delete the negative stuff. To live a significant life, it has to be more than just YOU. Wednesday starts a three day challenge to change your community by changing what you focus on. Watch for the invites coming out soon...

Who wants to live to be 100 and be healthy?? Wanna know how?? In Roseta, Pennsylvania, an Italian-American community, they had VERY low (nearly non-existent) occurrence of heart attack from 1955-1965. The research carried out concluded that it was not due to the way they ate or what they drank, but rather it was the social connection they had as a community that was the biggest predictor of longevity. When family members began moving away the rate of heart attack approached the national average. We are not meant to be separated from each other. Isolation and loneliness is like smoking a pack of ci******es per day. We do not do well when we are alone. Regardless of how well you eat and exercise, if you stay angry and afraid, you will not have any energy to grow, recover, create or feel compassion or gratitude. It's simple really... change what goes into your mind and your life will change... for better or for worse. You get to decide every day! Choose optimism and gratitude today & every day!

You ARE NOT Living LIFE! You are living the life YOU focus on. Let's break that down... IF you focus on things that make you angry or afraid, you are NOT focusing on things that allow you to feel grateful. It is a FACT that you can not be afraid or angry and be grateful at the same time. Your brain does not allow it. The media's best results happen when they get readers to be afraid or angry... SO... do the logic... If you focus on things that allow you to recognize what you are grateful for, you can NOT be angry or fearful. Watching the news and doom scrolling social media outlets about what is wrong with everybody else is not the best way to live life... unless you want to die early with depression, high blood pressure, and a laundry list of maladies related to negative stress without an outlet. Choose gratitude and choose to live a better life filled with love and connection! Well, get off this app and live better! NOW!
