Community Montessori School
As this school year begins, we welcome our students and parents at both campuses and anticipate a successful school year for all. In the beginning . . .
Every day, we see proof in our children that the Montessori approach to education works. Community Montessori School opened it’s doors at our Webb Road Campus in the fall of 1989 with two classrooms and an enrollment of 30 children, ages 2 through 5. Our goal was to provide the very best education for children following the methods and philosophies that were true to the vision of Maria Montessori.

For many years, CMS has a tradition of preparing a true feast day at school.
Last week, our children have been very busy in the most delicious way - cooking, baking and crafting. Vegetable soup, cornbread muffins, apple crisp, cranberry sauce, and more - all made from scratch by our amazing children. Little hands also made their own butter too!
But our feast day is about more than food… it’s about connection.
Our children sang traditional feast day songs and beautifully performed them simultaneously in sign language.
So wonderful to watch them share a meal they helped create, sing with their whole hearts, and celebrate together!
We are grateful for our community - children, our guides, our families, and the joy of shared traditions.

📢 Community Spirit in Action! 🍋💛
Our incredible Upper Elementary and Adolescent students stepped up in a big way! During their neighborhoods’ yard sales, they set up lemonade stands to help raise funds for our school, which suffered significant damage during the storms.
Selling refreshing drinks and yummy snacks, they raised over $250 combined and donated money towards the Phoenix Campaign to renew and rebuild Community Montessori School.
Their initiative, creativity, and teamwork are an inspiration to us all.
Together, we can rebuild stronger. 🌟

📢 Community Montessori School launched Phoenix Campaign:🕊️ Renew and rebuild! 📢
We are announcing the launch of the 🕊️ Phoenix Campaign: Renew & Rebuild – our dedicated initiative to restore our school after the challenges brought by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. 🌱
This campaign aims to continue raising the essential funds needed to rebuild our facilities, ensuring a safe and inspiring learning environment for CMS students. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to our goal of reopening classrooms and bringing all our students and their teachers back to their campuses.

🌪️ After Hurricane Milton, we discovered that the outdoor sign for Community Montessori School had vanished. But in true community spirit, one of our amazing parents found it in a nearby neighborhood and brought it back to us! 💙 Huge thanks for your kindness and quick action! 🙌
📢 P.S. We’re still on the lookout!
The Webb Road campus gates went missing during the flooding from Hurricane Helene, and we haven’t been able to locate them yet. If you happen to spot them, please let us know or bring them back! Your help is much appreciated as we work together to restore our school grounds. 🙏

Yesterday, Spectrum Bay News 9 team visited Community Montessori School as they covered the aftermath of the historic flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. The news crew interviewed the Head of the School, Nancy Bowman, and one of the student volunteers.

As you may have heard, both of our campuses flooded due to Hurricane Helene's storm surge. Our school will require a full flood remediation to restore a safe environment for our students. This year marks the 35th anniversary of Community Montessori school!
Since the doors of the Webb Road campus first opened in the fall of 1989, we’ve been guiding young minds to discover their passion for learning, creativity, and independence.
Over three decades, our dedicated educators, vibrant community, and visionary longtime leader and founder, Ms. Nancy Bowman, have made CMS a place where children thrive and grow into confident, compassionate individuals.
As we look back on our journey, we are grateful for the trust and support of our families, alumni, and staff. Together, we’ve created a community of lifelong learners that continues to inspire next generations.
