☀️ Thanks to our warm climate, Florida honey bees can forage nearly year-round, while bees in many other states have to stay clustered inside the hive during cold winters.

🌺 Florida’s orange blossoms, saw palmetto, gallberry, wildflowers, and mangroves provide bees with an incredible variety of nectar sources, creating unique local honeys with different flavors throughout the year.

🍊 That’s one reason Florida produces some of the most delicious honey around!

Not all bees in the hive have the same job!

Every honey bee colony has three different types of bees, and each one has an important role.

👑 The Queen
• There’s usually only one queen in a healthy hive.
• Her primary job is to lay eggs—up to 2,000 a day during peak season!
• She also produces pheromones that help keep the colony organized.

💪 The Workers
• Worker bees are all female.
• They do just about everything:
🍯 Collect nectar and pollen
🏠 Build honeycomb
👶 Care for baby bees
🛡️ Guard the hive
🌬️ Fan their wings to regulate hive temperature
✨ Clean and maintain the colony

🐝 The Drones
• Drones are male bees.
• Their role is to help ensure the future of honey bee populations by mating with queens from other colonies.
• Unlike workers, they don’t collect nectar, make honey, or defend the hive.

A single worker bee only produces about 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey during her entire lifetime. It truly takes a whole hive working together to create every jar!
