🚀 Using failure as your fuel 🚀

This is a picture of me failing. We were 2-0 down at half time of a playoff game in the playoffs. And if I'm honest, all of the big steps in my life came from taking myself outside my comfort zone and doing the hard thing. Whether it be taking the step to move away from everything and everyone I knew in the UK to the unknown of the U.S, the big step of learning how to be a father (still learning!) or embarking on my journey to become a full-time coach developer at Tampa Bay United and working with U.S Soccer; it all came from a growth mindset of embracing the unknown and being ok with failing.
🛤️ My Journey:
Stepping into unfamiliar territories and learning skills that didn’t come naturally to me was daunting. But it was in those moments of struggle and stepping out of my comfort zone that I experienced the most significant growth.
🌱 3 Steps to Step Out of Your Comfort Zone:
Embrace the Unfamiliar: Engage in tasks that challenge you, yet are achievable with effort and guidance.
Seek Mentorship: Find a mentor who can guide you through the challenges and provide constructive feedback.
Reflect and Adjust: Regularly assess your progress, celebrate your achievements, and adjust your approach as needed.

Carpe diem’s full meaning; “pluck the day, trusting as little as possible in the next one.” I’m truly blessed to do what I love every day- here are 3 ways you can ‘carpe diem’ today;
1. Try something new- Take that risk and do something you’ve always talked about but never had enough courage to do. They say that a boat is safest at the dock, but as you all know that’s not what boats are built for. 2. Face your fears- find something that your future self will be thankful for and that your current self is scared to do! The Stoic principle of ‘the obstacle is way’ rings true- this refers to the idea that no obstacle can be navigated just by avoidance; you must tackle it head-on. Learning to do difficult things is a skill! 3. Get 1% better- be intentional about actions that will take you closer to your goal. Take 10 minutes each day to work on that actionable goal. If you want to become a better striker, how many reps do you have in front of goal? If you’re a leader wanting to get better at talking, how about practicing your delivery in the mirror?
