Did you know our scholarship application for seniors graduating from Polk County public and charter high schools is open now? Visit https://www.polkeducationfoundation.org/scholarships/scholarships for all directions, to review the list of scholarships available (They are noted as “Countywide’ for all students, and, schools with individual donors have a list under their school name.) The online application will close at noon on February 15th. Applications must be completed and submitted online, AND, the application printed and applicable signatures and attachments obtained to be turned into the scholarship contact at the students’ high school by the date the school sets. Applications done only online cannot be considered. High School scholarship contacts have all this information as well to assist students.

Did you know February is Financial Aid Awareness Month? FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is open and should be completed at a high school senior’s very earliest convenience. All students are encouraged to apply even if they feel they are not eligible for assistance as many scholarship funders look to see the effort students are making to fund college. Federal Student Aid offers grants, loans, work-study and more to help students pay for college or career school. Bright Futures offers scholarships to students based on merit. High school counselors have all the information needed to assist students with looking for financial aid. Although the FAFSA did not open in time this year to be used for the PEF scholarship information, it is a valuable resource for seniors looking for college funding!
