Play Recipe
2 trucks + 0.5 cups play dough + pompon “rocks” + 19 month old= less than 10 minutes play😢. Today we saw a bulldozer tearing down a house. With nothing else to do, we watched it and talked about it for a good 20 minutes on our walk. Afterward, I told him we would play with trucks and play dough. Play helps kids process what they see and experience as part of everyday life. It helps them make sense of their surroundings. But just because I’ve set up the perfect play scenario, doesn’t necessarily guarantee that they will play with it. Sometimes, their minds are focusing on something else—and that’s ok too. I left this out for an hour or so to see if he would circle back. He did not so he helped me clean up the tray and we put out another activity that was much more successful!
