While you desperately need the work you see no real future in it. “Another fad that will fizzle out soon,” you think to yourself. “Cigar rolling? Here in Ybor? Please.”

Did you catch the F5 (FASCINATING FACTOID FOR FANATICAL FLORIDIANS) in yesterday’s newsletter?

We took a quick trip back to 1903 in Fernandina Beach, where a brand-new spot called The Palace Saloon opened its doors.

Fast forward to today, and it’s still standing as Florida’s oldest continuously operating bar, surviving Prohibition, economic shifts, and even a major fire. Not bad for a place someone once had a “beer-gut feeling” about.

Confession: we’ve got a golf fanatic in the building… so with it being Masters week, this one felt right.

Florida’s golf history might go back further than you think. While courses in Belleair and Palm Beach date to 1897, some say Sarasota hosted one of the first golf games in the entire U.S. back in 1886… on a two-hole course behind a house.
