During the Teen Driver Challenge (TDC), teens learn responsible and defensive driving skills under the instruction of experienced law enforcement officers.

The Teen Driver Program (TDC) initially began in Leon County as a pilot program. Following the success of the pilot program, the Florida Sheriff’s Association adopted the model and developed an expert team of law enforcement officials and teen driving experts to further develop the TDC. The program expanded statewide, with 35 counties currently participating and instructing teens on defensive driv

🚗 Teen Driver Challenge, offered through the Florida Sheriffs Association, gives teens hands-on, real-world driving experience with trained law enforcement instructors. From emergency braking to defensive driving, every lesson is focused on one thing: keeping young drivers safe.

🎉 Congratulations to the newest Teen Driver Challenge graduates from Santa Rosa County! 🎉 These young drivers completed hands-on training with local law enforcement instructors, gaining essential skills in defensive driving, hazard awareness, and real-world decision making.

🚗 What is the Teen Driver Challenge?
Offered through the Florida Sheriffs Association, this program gives teen drivers the chance to learn critical skills behind the wheel—taught by experienced law enforcement instructors.

Through hands-on training in real-world driving scenarios, students practice everything from emergency braking to defensive driving techniques. Every element of the course is focused on preventing crashes and saving lives.

Our recent events were a major success, and we’re excited to see these young drivers take what they’ve learned out on the road

The Teen Driver Challenge is currently offered FREE in 42 counties across Florida. Created by the Florida Sheriffs Association the program teaches real world defensive driving skills and addresses top risks for teen drivers: speeding, distractions, and impaired driving.

As the '100 Deadliest Days' for teen drivers are now upon us, it's important to encourage our youth to stay safe this summer.

FSA's free Teen Driver Challenge (TDC) program is offered in 39 counties across the state and addresses the primary factors affecting teen drivers – speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, texting while driving, and distracted driving.
