It might be summer, but Springwood is continuing to provide learning opportunities for students through multiple programs! We are hosting Summer Reading Academy and ESY programs as well as offering Level Up, EDEP and 21st Century summer programs this year!

Congrats to our Pre-K Class of 2024 today on their Graduation!! We are excited and proud to recognize these graduates. They are ready to embark on a new journey into Kindergarten and we can’t wait to see the great things they will do in the future!!
Our annual 5th grade kickball game took place this morning!! It was a close game, but the Teachers came away with another win against the students!!
Last night was our glamorous Owlscars awards ceremony for faculty and staff!! We also surprised our fabulous principal with a birthday party for her!! It was a wonderful evening of delicious food and fun fellowship for all!!!
Our 5th grade promotion ceremony was today!! We celebrated our AMAZING Class of 2024 and all of their accomplishments this year. We are so proud of the young scholars they have become and are looking forward to seeing great things from each of them in the future!! Aloha Class of 2024!!

I hope that your week is off to a great start. Believe it or not, tomorrow, May 21st, is the last full day of the 23-24 school year. It will also be the last day students can bring bookbags.
Also, just a reminder that the last three days of school are early release days, with school ending at 12:20 pm.

Today, we shine the light on Ms. H from Springwood Elementary! Our team members, Matt and Douglas, had the honor of volunteering at Springwood Elementary in Tallahassee and were deeply impressed by Ms. H's dedication and teaching prowess.
As a kindergarten teacher, Ms. Hajbukiewicz's exceptional techniques and methods not only meet educational needs but also propel her students to the next level. Our Kindergarten students did a wonderful job with their performance this morning and then enjoyed a fun field trip to Chuck E. Cheese!!
We ended our travel adventure from last week in England today with delicious fish and chips fried by our very own Mr. Landrum and Mr. McCray!!
The Hope Bus will be stationed at Fort Braden Library (16327 Blountstown Hwy., Tallahassee) Wednesday, May 15th from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. to help individuals and families impacted by the storms in Leon County. In partnership with Volunteer Florida, the Department will be providing tarps, water, food, baby supplies, charging stations, and other supplies to those in need. Hope Navigators are on site and ready to help!
Come join us THIS Thursday, May 16th beginning at 5PM, for our Emergency Distribution at the Governors Square Mall in the old Sears parking lot. We're here to assist you in restocking items lost due to the recent storm. Expect fresh produce, protein, eggs, and pantry essentials to help kickstart your refrigerator and pantry restocking process. Remember, it's first come, first served!

Mrs. Karen Newsome is one of our Paraprofessionals and develops positive relationships with students. Both are well deserving of this recognition!!

Schools will be closed in Leon County on Tuesday, May 14 due to anticipated severe weather entering our area beginning at 6:00 a.m. potentially making roads impassable and compounding the impacts of the previous severe weather in our area.
The decision to close schools was made after consulting with the National Weather Service, Leon County Emergency Management and getting feedback from every LCS principal.
We are in communication with the Florida Department of Education in regards to required instructional minutes to confirm that our seniors in the class of 2024 will have enough hours to graduate without having to extend the school year.
Our high schools will be adjusting their AP & IB schedules and each school will communicate directly with those students waiting to take a test. Make ups will be scheduled during the required late testing windows identified by the AP and IB organizations—not LCS.
Bus routes will be checked in the afternoon to identify any possible issues prior to Wednesday.
Non-school based District staff is expected to arrive to work by 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.
If weather permits, some schools may proceed with afterschool and evening activities.
Our SAC meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow has been re-scheduled for next Tuesday, May 21st at 12:30pm.
School is closing today at 1:00. Please make preparations to pick up your child(ren). Thank you!
We were seeing RED today to kick off Red Ribbon Week!! Everyone wore red and students received bracelets and stickers to say no to drugs and bullying!! Don’t forget to wear peace signs, tie dye, or dress like a hippie tomorrow!!
