SPS Needs a Few Unique Things This Week! Read below if you can help!

We have another fun week of hands-on life skills planned at Southern Prairie Schoolhouse, and we could use a little help from our families and community!

We’re looking for:

☎️ A few willing phone-call volunteers:
On Thursday, our students will be practicing real-world phone etiquette and communication skills. We need a few friendly business owners who would be willing to receive a short practice phone call from a student during our life skills block. Depending on age, students may practice asking business hours, requesting product/service information, making an appointment, or simply introducing themselves and speaking clearly and politely. (teacher will directly be in contact with you beforehand and will be a scheduled time)

🛒 Grocery store ads, or CLEAN empty grocery packages:
We’re learning about grocery shopping, budgeting, comparing prices, and making smart choices.

🔩 Spare nuts, bolts, washers, screws, nails & tape measures:
We’ll be continuing our work with basic tools, measuring, hardware identification, and learning how to safely use everyday tools.

Nothing needs to be purchased especially for us! We love being able to take ordinary and gently used household items and turn them into real-world learning opportunities. If you can help with any of these items—or would be willing to be one of our Thursday phone-call volunteers—please comment below or send us a message!

Another week at the schoolhouse,
With busy hands and minds,
Learning lessons big and small,
In all the sweetest kinds. ❤️

We watered down the duck pond,
And watched the water flow,
Learning that when we care for things,
We help them thrive and grow. 🦆

We learned about our tools,
And gave the drill a try,
With careful hands and confidence—
There’s nothing we can’t try! 🛠️

We sorted clothes on laundry day,
And learned to wash them right,
From dirty piles to folded stacks,
All fresh and clean and bright! 🧺

Then gathered ’round the dining table,
With manners on display—
“Please” and “thank you,” napkins too,
And kindness led the way. 🍽️

Because here at our little schoolhouse,
There’s more to learn than books—
It’s working hands and growing hearts,
And learning what life takes. ❤️

Another week of memories,
Of learning, laughs, and fun—
At Southern Prairie Schoolhouse,
We’re growing one by one. 🌾

Whew!! What a busy, wonderful, past few days. First week is in full swing and wide open here at the schoolhouse 💛 so far, we’ve learned handshakes, introductions, 2-way conversations, pricing margins, market values, meeting someone new for the first time, oh! And all of the other big things too like colors, letters, different types of story elements, number lines, and some addition and subtraction thrown in there. Today was a perfect example of not everything goes according to plan in life, so how do you deal with it? Like today, when nothing, absolutely, positively, went according to plan. You know what these amazing kiddos did? They broke into groups, with a team leader, and each accomplished a goal that needed to be met. We’re all exhausted tonight and very proud of ourselves. 📚✏️🥚💛

As backpacks are packed and classrooms fill again, let’s remember the most important “school supplies” aren’t found in the store.

May our students carry kindness into every friendship.

May our teachers lead with patience and gentleness.

May our parents encourage with love and faithfulness.

And may we all choose joy, peace, goodness, and self-control in every circumstance.

Our prayer is that students, teachers, and families will stay rooted in Christ and let His light shine brightly in every classroom, hallway, and friendship this school year.

🎉 BIG NEWS FROM SOUTHERN PRAIRIE SCHOOLHOUSE! 🏀

We announced this at our ribbon cutting event, and in case you missed it!

We are incredibly excited to announce that Southern Prairie Schoolhouse has been awarded a grant for a brand new basketball court for our students!

This is another amazing blessing for our school and a wonderful investment in the lives of the children we serve. Soon our students will have a dedicated space for physical education, recreation, teamwork, and making lifelong memories.

We are so thankful to everyone who has believed in our mission and supported Southern Prairie Schoolhouse from the very beginning. Because of opportunities like this, our students continue to benefit in ways we could only dream of just months ago.

The future is bright at Southern Prairie Schoolhouse, and we can't wait to see our students playing on their new court! 🏀❤️

What an unforgettable day. 🍎💛

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude after Southern Prairie Schoolhouse's Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening.

To see so many of our traditional and hybrid families gathered together, standing on the very grounds where so many memories will be made, was something we'll never forget. Looking around and seeing children laughing, parents visiting, grandparents exploring the schoolhouse, and our community celebrating alongside us reminded us exactly why this dream began.

Southern Prairie Schoolhouse has never just been about a building. It's about the families who have entrusted us with their children, the friendships that are already beginning to grow, and a community that believes education can still be rooted in faith, character, hard work, and genuine relationships.

To every family who attended, thank you. Your presence meant more than you know. By choosing Southern Prairie Schoolhouse, you are helping write the very first chapter of a story that we pray will bless generations to come.
