Hello everyone,
The Khmer Language Program at UW is facing elimination and needs your help. Save Khmer at UW () launched a year-long fundraising campaign to demonstrate widespread support for the Khmer Language Program to continue being offered at the University of Washington, the only public university that currently offers all 3 levels. For the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, UW is only offering Beginning Level of Khmer. Intermediate and Advanced are already being cut.
Support our efforts to raise $100,000 by June 2027 to ensure that the full Khmer Language Program is available in the 2027-2028 school year while other community leaders are advocating at the state level for permanent funding. Our collective fundraising will demonstrate to the university that Khmer is an essential language program. This fundraiser is not affiliated with the University of Washington.

Yesterday's Sampas Kru ceremony was a beautiful experience! π€© It was so heartwarming to see our students showing respect to their teachers and masters. π This tradition is such a powerful way to pass down our values and honor those who guide us. We love seeing these moments of connection and gratitude. It really makes us appreciate the wisdom shared and the bonds formed. This is definitely a day we won't forget! β¨
Thank you to our parents and students for your support, your time, and your belief in preserving our culture.
Thank you to our community for being present and the continual support for our students and teachers.
Thank you to our Master, KLACA's Director of Performing Arts, Lokru Ben for your guidance, and the love you pour into every lesson. You've remind all of us why KLACA feels like a family.
This was more than a ceremony; it was a moment of unity, gratitude, and cultural pride.
